Norwegian Cruise Line is looking to the future, announcing today the order of two new ships set for delivery in 2026 and 2027.

The two unnamed ships will be the fifth and sixth in the Project Leonardo class. Project Leonardo class ships are expected to weigh in at 140,000 gross registered tons and accommodate roughty 3,300 guests at double occupancy. The new ships will be built by the Fincantieri shipyard.

“These orders extend our disciplined and measured newbuild program and strong growth trajectory well into the future and will further drive long-term returns for our shareholders,” said Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.  “Our six ship Leonardo Class fleet will allow us to broaden our deployment into strong performing and mature unserved and underserved markets and offer new experiences to our guests.”

The Project Leonardo Class ships are focused on the environment, with optimized fuel consumption and a smaller environmental footprint. Names, onboard features and deployment for the new ships have not yet been announced.

This two ship order makes a total of 7 ships on order for Norwegian Cruise Line, with their next ship, the Breakaway Plus Class Norwegian Encore, due in late 2019.
