Holland America Line Named Official Partner to Professional Pickleball Association

The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) has announced that it has exclusively named Holland America Line as its official cruise line partner. With this designation, Holland America will continue to expand its pickleball at sea experience for guests. 

According to an official announcement from the cruise line, all ships in the Holland America fleet offer pickleball courts with top-deck views. All shipboard courts will be refreshed by February 2023, with the addition of PPA Tour partner logos. 

Starting this February and rolling out fleet-wide by April 2023, Holland America will offer complimentary beginner pickleball lessons. Shipboard instructors will teach guests the rules and basics of playing the game and all of its associated terminology. Additionally, How to Play Pickleball” tutorial videos will be featured in Holland America’s in-stateroom TV programming.

We’re excited to offer our guests an elevated pickleball experience as they travel to spectacular and scenic cruise destinations,” said Kacy Cole, vice president of marketing for Holland America Line. “Mirroring its rapid growth as the fastest growing sport in the U.S., pickleball is the most popular sport on our ships. It’s wonderful to see guests bond over their shared love of the game — and the ever-changing scenery makes the perfect pickleball backdrop.”

There’s an additional fun fact about this new partnership according to the cruise line- — pickleball was actually invented on Bainbridge Island (Washington state), just a short ferry ride from Seattle where the cruise line is headquartered! 

Outside of the shipboard activities, Holland America Line will now be included on branded signage at  PPA tournaments, merchandise, and tour promo materials.
