Luxury expedition operator Atlas Ocean Voyages has announced it will partner with ORCA, a pioneering marine conservation charity dedicated to studying and protecting whales, dolphins, and porpoises, and their ocean habitats.

Atlas Ocean Voyages’ World Navigator has dedicated Ocean Conservationists onboard for its 2023/2024 Antarctica expeditions. These conservationists focus on raising awareness of marine life, collecting scientific data, and actively contributing to safeguarding whales and dolphins. This initiative aims to involve guests in citizen science projects, which allows them to play an integral role in conservation efforts.

The partnership between Atlas Ocean Voyages and ORCA will enable guests to become Citizen Scientists, participating in hands-on workshops and utilizing ORCA's OceanWatchers app. Guests will record environmental and sighting information, valuable data needed to understand the behavior and movements of marine mammals.

“This collaboration represents a significant stride in fostering a profound connection between travelers and marine conservation, benefiting the world's oceans and their unique inhabitants,” stated James A. Rodriguez, Atlas Ocean Voyages President and CEO. “Together with ORCA, we look forward to fostering a deeper connection between our travelers and the incredible marine life they will encounter, ensuring a meaningful and enriching experience for all."

Guests sailing on any future Antarctica expeditions this year on World Navigator will participate in hands-on workshops and contribute to conservation and marine life protection efforts, as well as participate in lectures with knowledgeable Ocean Conservationists, and learn to photograph marine life.
