River cruise line AmaWaterways has officially debuted its newest vessel, the AmaSiena. The ship was christened by its Godmother Debbie Fiorino, Senior Vice President and COO of Owned Brands of World Travel Holdings, alongside AmaWaterways’ co-founders Rudi Schreiner and Kristin Karst at a ceremony in Lahnstein, Germany. AmaSiena was initially slated to be christened and go into service in 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As is customary with ship christenings, AmaSiena Captain Ronald Schuegard assisted as Godmother Fiorino broke a champagne bottle against the ship’s hull. This long-standing maritime tradition is to signify good luck on the vessel’s future journeys.

“Being part of the travel industry has allowed me to discover so much of the world and AmaWaterways has taken me to many of these amazing places, traveling along iconic

rivers visiting spectacular cities, and discovering amazing towns like Lahnstein where we celebrated the christening of AmaSiena,” remarked Fiorino. “I am honored to act as her Godmother as we celebrate a safe return to the rivers and the promise of a bright future ahead.”

AmaSiena’s maiden voyage embarked from Amsterdam on August 26, 2021. The ship sailed to Cologne then on to Lahnstein for the christening. The itinerary also includes stops in Rüdesheim, Ludwigshafen, Strasbourg, Breisach, and Basel. AmaSiena will continue to sail a variety of seven-night itineraries on the Rhine throughout the summer, fall, and holiday season. Beginning in 2022, the ship will sail the Dutch and Belgium waterways.

The AmaSiena is a sister ship to the AmaLucia, AmaMora, AmaLea and AmaKristina. It is the 26th ship in the AmaWaterways fleet.

At full capacity, AmaSiena can accommodate up to 156 passengers and 51 crew members. The ship offers 78 total staterooms, ranging in size from 155 sq. feet to 300 sq. feet. Each cabin features a twin balcony to enjoy the views as you cruise by the majestic scenery. Onboard amenities include a sun-deck pool with a swim-up bar, a massage and beauty salon, fitness center, walking track, and multiple elegantly designed common spaces. AmaSiena also offers an exceptional dining program at the Main Restaurant and Chef’s Table eateries.
