Nothing beats being one of the first onboard a brand-new cruise ship! There’s the new ship smell, being among the first to find the hidden gems around the vessel, and the general excitement around being the first guests and crew onboard. Even though we just started 2024, it’s not too soon to go ahead and make plans to check out the new cruise ships debuting in 2025. 

Following is a run down (alphabetically) of all the details for new cruise ships launching in 2025. All these vessels will surely wow guests of all ages as they sail to ports worldwide in the coming year! 

Allura - Oceania Cruises

Passengers: 1,200  

About the Ship: ​​Allura is the sister ship to Vista, which debuted in 2023. The 1,200-guest ship is part of the new ‘Allura’ class of vessels. Onboard ship highlights include an onboard Crêperie, a new social space at the top of the ship, five specialty dining venues, spacious standard staterooms, and an expansive Culinary Center with an accompanying Chef's Studio.

Celebrity Xcel - Celebrity Cruises

About the Ship: Celebrity Xcel is the sister ship to Celebrity Ascent. It is the fifth and final vessel in the cruise line’s Edge Series. Highlights will include a newly designed Retreat area, an expanded Rooftop Garden and Resort Deck, the multi-level Sunset Bar, a new Daniel Boulud restaurant, a redesigned three-deck Grand Plaza, and The Magic Carpet.

MSC World America - MSC Cruises

About the Ship: The LNG-powered MSC World America will be the second in MSC Cruises’ World Class when it launches in April 2025. This ship will sail from the line’s new terminal at PortMiami, offering 7-night Caribbean itineraries during its inaugural season. Guests will enjoy new restaurants, bars, and public spaces on board. Among the highlights will be The Harbor—a brand new outdoor destination designed for kids and families to play and relax together.

Norwegian Aqua - Norwegian Cruise Line

About the Ship: Norwegian Aqua is the first ship of NCL’s expanded Prima Plus Class, an evolution of the Prima Class. The ship will have an overall 10 percent size and capacity increase from sister ships Norwegian Viva and Norwegian Prima, with more outdoor space than any other NCL ship to date and the highest staffing levels of any new contemporary cruise ship. Ship highlights include the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide, the most spacious accommodations in the NCL fleet, and an expanded Ocean Boulevard.

Star of the Seas - Royal Caribbean

About the Ship: Star of the Seas is the second ship in Royal Caribbean’s new Icon Class of vessels. The mega-ship will offer something for travelers of all ages, with eight neighborhoods. Featured spaces are Thrill Island, Chill Island, AquaDome, and the open-air Central Park. Onboard, guests can enjoy the more than 40 bars and restaurants, and cutting-edge entertainment, the Category 6 waterpark, and the Crown's Edge (part skywalk, ropes course, and thrill ride).

Star Princess - Princess Cruises

About the Ship: Star Princess will be the biggest ship ever built for Princess Cruises, at 20 percent larger than any of the line’s existing vessels. The ship will offer several new and incredibly ground-breaking spaces, including The Dome, a new Piazza area featuring a glass sphere, a three-story dining room, and unique accommodation options with luxurious staterooms and suites.

Viking Tonle - Viking River Cruises

About the Ship: Viking Tonle (named after the Khmer word for ‘freshwater’) is designed to navigate the Mekong River in Asia. The ship will feature a Scandinavian design, 40 staterooms, an Upper Deck with a pool, an open-air Sky Bar, a spa/fitness center, a library, a restaurant, and a lounge.

Viking Vesta - Viking River Cruises

Date: TBD 2025

Passengers: 168

About the Ship: This new Viking longship coming in 2025 will be purpose-built to cruise the Seine River in Europe. It will offer the line’s popular eight-day ‘Paris and the Heart of Normandy’ itinerary. This to-be-named vessel will have various stateroom choices, Viking’s signature Scandinavian design aesthetic, and a hybrid propulsion system. Onboard solar panels will further contribute to the ships’ energy efficiency.

Name TBD - Disney Cruise Line

Passengers: TBA - Disney projects the passenger capacity to be approximately 6,000 

About the Ship: In 2022, Disney Cruise Line announced it had purchased the partially completed cruise ship previously known as the ‘Global Dream,’ which was owned by Dream Cruises. When Disney acquired the vessel, they announced the ship would be based outside the United States and sail to new markets for the cruise line. At this time, they have yet to make further announcements for this ship’s location. 

The 208,000-gross-ton vessel will be among the first in the industry to be fueled by green methanol, one of the lowest-emission fuels on the market. The ship exterior will feature the typical Mickey Mouse-inspired colors, complete with signature red funnels.

Name TBD - Four Seasons Yachts

About the Ship: Luxury brand/hotel operator Four Seasons will debut its first next-level high-end vessel at the end of 2025. This elegant ship will feature 95 total suites - the pinnacle offering being a 9,500 square feet four-level suite with a private spa, wading pool, and 280-degree panoramic views from its position at the ship’s funnel. Guests will enjoy the vessel's 11 eateries, full-service spa/salon, 20-meter saltwater pool, and a first-of-its-kind transverse marina that spans from port to starboard.

More from Carnival Corporation

Carnival Corporation announced in June 2024 that the P&O Australia Cruises brand would be sunsetting in March 2025 and the company will fold its existing Australia operations into Carnival Cruise Line. Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure ships will be rebranded and operated by Carnival Cruise Line fleet at this time. We will share more information from Carnival Corporation on this rebrand as soon as it becomes available.
