Carnival Fascination

Carnival Fascination

Sail date: July 23, 2011

Lower Your Expectations

if you are a sucker than you will like to cruise with Carnival. Everything has a fee to it. The only exceptions are the shows. If you want to have fun, you have to pay up and it isnt a reasonable amount either. 20$ for a bingo card that you only get to play for 20 minutes. 8.95-12.95 alcoholic beverages they try to sell you 24/7, its more like harrasment. People were always so quick to say watch out for the islanders in the bahamas, they will always try to sell you something, but the crew on the ship is waaaaay worse. Everything has a catch. They charge you 10$ per person, per day for gratuity, absurd and we had no idea until after we were on the ship, you can change this, but if you do know that the crew members wont get paid that much more, so it puts you in a catch 22. The food was alright for the cruise. The attendants and staff were nice. The pool was extremely tiny and there was only one small pool for 3,000 people. The website said two pools, there isnt another pool. People were crammed in the pull standing, there was not swimming allowed because there wasnt the room for it. The island of Half Moon Cay is owned by Carnival and has some good excursions, but its just like being on the boat, and arriving into Nassau is disapointing...so unless you are interested in buying only silver, gold, diamonds, watches, etc...then its your place. The port had no originial island food, it was all commercial american fast food.

Cruise tips

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

It was owned by Carnival, drinks were just as expensive if not more on the island. There was not much to do, unless you booked an excursion. Which we did, we booked two, and they were pretty good ones. But its all there is to do. Beach is free, but its extremely hot and there is very limited shade, so you can only be out in the open for so long.

Nassau, Bahamas

It's all commercial usa type of stuff, they didnt have any resturaunts that had actual island food. It was McD's, Taco Bell, Burger King, Starbucks, Senor Frogs, Hard Rock, etc. All of the shopping is only souvenirs and gold, silver, diamonds.
