Carnival Elation

Carnival Elation

Sail date: November 05, 2015

Does not leave a good impression on first-timers!

We were very excited about taking our first cruise; this was short-lived unfortunately. Embarkation was easy thanks to the FTTF option we purchased; but upon arrival things quickly began to change.

The "welcoming" crew were not very welcoming; as a matter of fact they appeared to have just awaken. Next we head toward our cabin, E155, and the cigarette smell in the hall was so strong we kept turning to see who was smoking. ...this did not go away throughout the cruise.

We wanted desperately to get some much needed rest but that did not happen the entire cruise! While I cannot blame Carnival for the group of loose, screaming, drunk, women we were booked in the middle of I CAN fault them for the kitchen noise that kept us up ALLLLL night EVERY night!!! Yep, our room was right below the galley!

The clanking, slamming, and sounds of whatever metallic items being moved, dropped, thrown, or whatever was going on was ridiculous.

All of that and, with the exception of the deli, the food was quite poor. We left whole plates of breakfasts and dinners on the table. I did not pay that much to have to eat sandwiches and pizza the whole time. :(

When it's time to disembark in Mexico we go to the direction announced, only to be stopped halfway and directed to another area, only to be sent BACK to where we were originally heading; only now behind a LOT more people.

Upon return from the excursion we have the option of going to a second entry point, only to be turned around...again, and end up behind more people AND THEN.... they start calling people BACK to where we were just sent away from (sigh) we stayed put. I've typed enough so I won't go into detail about being sent to another floor for final disembark only for all of us to have to take elevators to the actual exit >:(

One bright spot was Jaran, our Steward; he always addressed us by our names when seeing us in the hall and our room was kept wonderfully by housekeeping!

SOOO after this long review my recommendation would be: if you do not gamble, do not smoke, and don't drink much ....maybe pick a different ship!

Cruise tips

Cozumel, Mexico

No time for anything but tourist areas; you do not see any of the "real" living and products.

For Carnival cruise lines consider purchasing the FTTF, faster to the fun, option if you do not already have the perks of a faster embark/disembark. It really makes things go much smoother.
