Radiance of the Seas

Radiance of the Seas

Sail date: April 16, 2006

Would Go Back in a Heartbeat

As a first time cruiser, Radiance of the Sea offered a very enjoyable week. During my week the ocean was very cooperative with it's smooth as glass behavior. The ship was spacious and very clean, including my stateroom. I couldn't believe the amount of storage in the stateroom. My stateroom included a balcony, which I truly enjoyed. The entire staff was very pleasant and eager to please. There was a multitude of amenities on the ship, from the quiet library to the active workout room and the cassino, from entertaining staff performed shows in the evening to the disco dancing all night long. Activities focued on children, young adults, and those of us that have been around a while. Opportunity was there, you could choose your own level of activity. As for food, if you went hungry, it was your own fault. In regard to the main courses at dinner, some were great (big on my list were the dinner appetizers), some were good, and some you could put on the "pass it by table", but if that happened, you could just choose something else as the waiting staff was very willing to please you. At the end of the meal, bring on those delightful desserts! Excursion choices were many at each port of call. I found the description of each to be a shortcoming. What you seemingly were getting was not quite the case in two of the three excursions I booked. When asking the staff at Customer Relations for additional details, they knew little more then the blurb in the ad. When a snorkel excursion is advertised, I actually expect to to go to a reef and view sea life. More details need to be added and staff members need to experience them so they may report back the extent of each. You have to pay for all your alcholic beverages, which is a bit of a pinch if you like your cocktails. Best bargin on the ship in the Martini workshop. mmmmmmmmmmm! Speciality drinks were fun with or without alcohol. Plenty of iced tea and juices were complimentary.

Cruise tips

Cozumel, Mexico

May sure you schedule an excursion that actually goes to a great reef as this is what Cozumel is all about.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Did the Canopy Tour, but doesn't hold a candle to the Ziplines in Costa Rica. Too many in a group, too much wait time. Better choice next time would be Dunn's Falls

George Town, Grand Cayman

Rum cake is great for a quick visit. Visiting "Hell", a bit disappointing. 4X4 jeep excusion was okay, but don't look for any 4X4 outback adventure on this island as it only extends 600 feet from sea level.
