Just okay

This was our first cruise- myself, 2 kids ages 10 & 11 and my sister. Our other sister has been on several cruises so she picked this as our first since it was only 5 days. Where we went was fine, the islands were okay even with extremely choppy water almost the full 5 days.  Unfortunately a cold front came through and we had pretty strong winds the entire time, you could really feel the boat which was a little scary at times. This is not something Carnival can control. What they can control is the fact that after 5pm, the basketball court and minigolf shuts down because of the paid restaurant. There was 1 night (which for the weather was the worst) where there was absolutely nothing going on. No show, nothing. Half of the time the movie on deck that was to start at X time, never did. Okay so basically unless you were a gambler or a drinker, you had nothing to do in the evening. My 10 & 11 YO can't do either so they were pretty bored. The lunch buffet was terrible but Guys Burgers and the pizza place were great. If they had not have had this, my kids would have probably starved. The restaurants were good but service could be sketchy at times. You could pretty much plan on a 3hr dinner if you went to the gold restaurant. Our rooms were nice and very clean which was a good thing since we spent so much time in there. Overall I am 100% positive I would never go back on the Liberty with kids but I may be willing to do another cruise as long as I research the ship thoroughly. My sister who is an experienced cruiser also did not like this ship and complained about the lack of activities.

Cruise tips

New Orleans, Louisiana

Took a cruise out of NOLA last week and the embarkation was probably 100% better than last year. Took us maybe 10 min total if even that before we were on the ship. Only had to go to 1 station unlike last year where it was several and this was after 1pm. Definitely made our experience much better and would recommend a cruise out of this port. I won’t lie, I was totally dreading it but NOLA has gotten their act together with the boarding process and made it a great experience!
