Grand Turk Island

Vacations are whatever you make of it and experiences or opinions of the experience will differ. We were supposed to visit Grand Turk but for whatever reason Carnival changed our port to Princess Cays. Definitely not an apples to apples exchange. I'm not a fan of the beach, swimming or water sports so I definitely didn't enjoy this port. Princess Cays is terrific if you just want to lounge on another beach, swim or enjoy any of other offered water sport activities. Very small shopping area right off the beach.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Didn't go on any excursions but enjoyed the few hours I spent ashore. Tourism is how most vendors make their living so I expected to encounter some pricey items but for the most part prices were fair. I advise any future travelers to check out all vendors before making a purchase of pricey items since they all basically carry the same items. Best price and selection for children's tshirts ($8) I found in the shop 1 or 2 doors down from the watch shop. But I enjoyed the time I spent there. Oh! The bike cabs at the dock are FREE...just tip your cyclist and DON'T be cheap either. If I go again, I'll try one of the excursions.
