Norwegian Spirit

May 2016 - 12 Night Grand Mediterranean (Venice To Barcelona) Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

Great beer value! See Beverages

Would I recommend this cruise? In short ,Yes! Why? Price, accommodations and port of calls.  This cruise ship was a great way to visit fun places in a short period of time while having a place to go home every night.  You must keep in mind that you are given about 8 to 9 hours to visit the cities and points of interest, so you find yourself running like crazy.  On this trip, I wish there would had been more time at Mykonos, Rome, Naples and/or Pisa/Florence and this could had been done if the cruise line would had skipped Toulon, though a nice little town, not the best way to impress your guest.  Yet again, given that most guest were older (over 50) a stroll in a small town works just fine.

Tip of advice to those that won't take the tours with the cruise line:

- Go online and pick the places you want to visit at each city

- Search and plan the train schedules that you will use in each city you visit

- Find the best and fastest way to get to and from the port to your point of interest

- Hop - On - Hop Off types of excursions work best t if you want to take pictures  from outside the venues

- No time for long museum visits - you miss a lot if you do, save it for when you visit just one city for multiple days

- Get a SIM card for your cell phone so that you can use Google map to get around - get info from your cell phone provider

- Carry some cash for last minute taxi rides

Food

We dinned in at one of their restaurant only 4 times, servers were prompt and courteous.  Food was good and provided many options.

Most of the trip we decided to eat from the buffet at upper deck because we returned late from the excursions.  The buffet provided plenty of options to choose from and stayed open a little late.  The food was very good and always fresh.

Beverages

Plenty of options: wines, liquors, and if you are an american beer drinker then you are for a treat, order a six pack of Coors Light as the bottles are the 16 oz, rather than the 12 oz on all other beers, this will get you more for your money, but if Coors is not your beer then of course they have many more options.

Room/Restroom

We had a room with a window and it was spacious for the two of us.  It was very quite and the A/C worked just fine, no issues.  The bathroom had a sliding door separating the toilet from the rest of the restroom (keep in mind that his might be the standard for the highest price room but not expected for the $699 package that we paid for).  The closet had more than enough space for our clothes, yet we only travel with two small carry on bags but it should be good for 2 big bags.

Entertainment

The night shows were good and fun to watch from magic shows to comedian to aerial performances.

I wish they would have had events/games/group dancing in the pool deck as we had great weather throughout the trip.

In summary, great value for the price, good food, entertainment, and nice ports.

Adventure of the Seas

July 2015 - 7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip) Cruise on Adventure of the Seas

Good adventure for the price!!!

I have taken 4 cruises prior to this one, so I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts about this cruise:

- Very good price for the number of stops

- Crew staff was courteous and professional: the room attendant (house keeping) did a very good job at remembering everyone's name, as well at remembering people's habits, such as time of leaving and/or coming back to the room.

- Dining: the team was nice and also did a good job at remembering your favorite food and beverage. (this was for both breakfast and dinner)

- Evening shows at the auditorium were very good (4 stars); games at the pool were fun (day time) but did very little if any during the evenings (pool areas) - They could add a drinking game or eating contest (pizza, hot dogs or hamburgers)

- I love the Cafe Shop (almost like Starbucks)

Opportunities

- Tours were more expensive than what I expected: on one of the islands my fiancé and I did a similar tour offered by the Cruise line for just $2 more and had the whole Taxi to ourselves and with an extra hour to enjoy another part of the island

- The cruise ship did not have many restaurants to chose from for dining, though they had themes days (small part in the buffet area) to break the routine but did not have much variety of foods

- The islands in the caribbean are so small that the ship, during departure, could sail around the islands for everyone to see the different beaches and points of interest

- Lots of guess like to go to the the Beach so most tours should include a beach on the way back to the ship (I know they offer some but not many, as well as they offer the Catamaran but those book quickly so maybe they should increase the number of Catamarans tours)

- Many TV shows were the same reruns day after day ( you might feel trap on a loop, like the Groundhog Day) - Please add channels to your TV

In short, this is a good cruise if you want to visit different island but as for on board to do/eat not much variety.

P.S. The gym and the rock climbing are great adds

Cruise tips

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

I love the city, but given that the port is far from the city, it would had been nice to had stay longer. Keep in mind that if you missed the train back to the port, you're done. Might as well take a train to you next destination because they don't run every 15 minutes.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

Same as Rome, the port is far from the city and unless you're on an excursion, changes are that you will miss a lot of time waiting for the train and if the city goes on strike, then you are doom.

Toulon, France

Nice small town, the tourist center was well manage and the staff spoke several languages. However, we ended up in a restaurant that no one spoke any other language than France. Shame on me for not learning french in school.

Bridgetown, Barbados

The cavern tour was too expensive for what you get: 3 hours tour (1:30 hours on the bus [round trip] ; 10 mins in the shops, 20 mins in the learning center and 30 mins in the caverns . As for the city: it has more to offer just did not get to do anything else

Adventure of the Seas

Adventure of the Seas

There needs to be more activities in the pool areas at night, too quite and not enough action; Also Please move the smokers away from where most people are. Place them in the top area where the wind can blow the smoke away from the ship and not to the rest of the ship
