Wasn't real impressed with this port. You have to take a shuttle about 5 miles into town to see anything. If you like Old Mexico this may be for you.
Carnival Valor
I would recommend getting a ship map and touring the ship after getting on and before Muster. Not too many people and it gives you an idea of what is on the ship.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
They have done a lot to this port in the last few years. We were here before and the overall snorkeling experience was much better.
Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic
This is a Carnival owned port I guess is the best way to put it. We bought some souvenirs here. There weren't many excursions that excited us so we went back to the ship a little early.
Loved going to Margaritaville and just enjoying the pool and atmosphere. It can be pricey but I thought it was worth it considering we didn't do an excursion here.
I give this three stars because when the CD tells you to be careful because of crime at the port, it makes you really take notice.
Carnival Conquest
The BBQ place is kind of hidden. You have to go on Lido deck and go towards the aft. When you are by the adult pool area, turn around, go through first set of doors and then up the stairs. The BBQ is actually pretty good!
We just love the people in Jamaica and the culture and atmosphere. Yes some people can be pushey. I can understand why. They are a place of poverty.
We did the Chef Maestro excursion and it was awesome. We learned how to make authentic food and drink!
We've been here before. It is definitely beautiful but pretty pricey on shopping.
We love Miami. People are friendly and we just love the culture!
Carnival Vista
Go to Guy's Pig and Anchor as soon as you board the ship if possible. It is a gem of a place to eat and gets rather busy but it is not busy the first day.
