We are not Norwegians.
Started bad with the huge delays getting on the ship, only then to be greeted by our luggage that gotten a forklift arm through one of them, and another that had 2 of wheels torn off of it. Not a sorry we oops note, not a explanation, not a screw you, just torn up luggage, that I now get to figure how to get them back off at the end of the cruise. They also tore the zipper of another one ,but were able to repair it. They had some sort of very cheap made luggage that they wanted to swap, but we insurance so we have to keep our broken luggage until we file our claim at home.
We go to dinner that 1st night because that's what our reservations are set for. Uhhh, really didn't matter,there was 1 line ,every night, at every one of the main dining rooms, it was a complete, and total waste of my time to make those reservations.
The entertainment was all of 2 shows. 2. One that was good, another that was great. The comidians were funny but that little room was very,very crowded and hard to see.
April 2019 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip) Cruise on Liberty of the Seas
This was our 1st RCCL cruise and I tried to book a nicer,older ship to make a fair comparison. Seems to us that is was just a better overall experience. Less entertainment, but what was there, was good. Still think NCL has best entertainment. The food was 100% better on RCCL. The buffet and main dining room are far superior. The specialty restaurant experience... so so. Chops was the best, but nothing really great. Enjoyed the layout of the ship and the ease of moving about.
The casino seems very cramped for a ship of this size. Seemed like several people use it as their smoking room rather than gambling.
Really enjoyed the Windjammer buffet in the mornings, great food, great staff.
We absolutely look forward to our next journey with RCCL and thanks to the crew and staff on the LOTS!
November 2018 - 8 Night Eastern Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Sunshine
Off of Sunshine yesterday, had a good cruise but I didn't care for ship. The food was above average on ship. The crew was fine, just seemed a little exhausted and under staffed. The entertainment was also above average, really good. The 1st two comedians were great(Just June&Russ Nagle). The last two weren't really good(didn't even show up for one show).
This ship has a lots to offer but if the ship is sold out, it really wasn't built to accommodate all its passengers.
You have to stand in line for every show . The lounge where the comedians are is a joke. It's so small that you have to watch monitors on the sides.
The main Liquid Lounge is also small and will require standing and waiting to get good seats. It doesn't have fixed seating on floor.
Going to eat in main dining room is an adventure.
Go to the 5th floor and check in. (Choke on the casino smoke)
Then proceed to the 3rd to the dining area.
This ship feels "cramped". The casino was fine,just smokey.
The serenity deck was full every sea day and all chairs occupied. Most by towels. (11 people in pool).
I waited right at 30 minutes for a pizza that I never received, as there was 1 young man working and he looked very tired. It happens.
The water heater in my cabin quit 3 times during the week.
At no point during an 8 day cruise did I ever lay eyes on my cabin steward. That's a first.
The ship just had a bumpy ride, even when there were no waves,and waters were calm people were getting motion sickness.
I myself had a good cruise experience, but I can promise I won't ever step on a renamed ship. I am sure that the Sunshine is someone's favorite ship, not mine.

Norwegian Getaway

Liberty of the Seas

Cruise tips
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
Once again, the tendering was so bad the comedians we making fun of NCL and the Captain apologized. Truth is.. We don't get these days back, and they got paid to mess up. On this one, a lady sitting at the back of tender boat (I was seated directly in front of her, facing her), had gotten so hot, she went into having an anxiety attack and was livid that she was getting out of that boat. Well, she tried climbing up and over the seats and people in front of her, she fell , I caught her, her daughter was trying her best to calm her,but she was wanting off that boat. Point is, she shouldn't have been put in the position of getting that hot by having to wait inside a hot lifeboat because Norwegian didn't have locals tendering. That was pitiful, the young man driving the boat had little to no experience doing this, and it showed. He got an ovation to get to the dock after 3 failed attempts.
Water was pretty, but I didn't go to a beach as I was pretty much already cooked. Lots of vendors sat up right there at the port. Pretty much the same stuff as Cozumel.
Ask Norwegian how my port was, they chose to let us have less than 2 hours there.
Absolutely the best surprise of the cruise. I was very impressed with the pool area, the beach area, and how nice the vendors were sat up. Great job, and thanks for day of good times. The pier was long, but after the prior 2 days experience, it was a welcome change.
Had been there a couple times before so we kind of knew what to expect. We took a tour of Falmouth from the back of a bicycle. Vendors outside the port can be rude,and pushy.
Norwegian Getaway
Do not go on a cruise that requires you to tender. Horrid. Our port time was 7-3. We were able to get off ship at 11:05. Took taxi to beach, got there at 11:50,at 1:15 I wanted to go back to Georgetown, we got there at 1:40, to see the line to get back on the ship was out in the street. Stood in line for another hour and a half to find out that others had been there over 2 and a 1/2 hours. Did the same waiting the following day at roatan. Pretty much wasted an excursion due to the waiting times and lines.
