Only because of the beach
Carnival Triumph
Guys Burgers...do NOT miss them
I have done thid same cruise at least 3 other times on the Triumph. It is a nice, easy trip from Houston. As a platinum member I get to by-pass the checkin lines so that is great. The buffet food is exactly the same on every cruise but there seemed to be slightly less variety on this one. The new Guys Burgers are about the best hamburgers I have ever eaten. Breakfast every morning was at the Blue Iguana next to the main pool. The main dining room service was slow and the quality of food only average. I did the "Anytime Dining" which may affect both. Inside cabin was always clean and the staff very friendly and prompt. The comedians and evening shows were well done. The casino took $40 but there is a good variety of slot machines. Cozumel never seems to change other than getting more crowded. The water is still some of the best in the world. Progreso,Yucactan is just an industrial port added to Carnival's itinerary to try to give short haul vacationers a little variety. Excursions from there
are rudimentary. The good tours to superior Mayan site require a 5 hour bus ride for a 2 hour visit. The Progreso beach is great. You can walk for miles, sit under a little thatched cabana, or get an hour long massage on the beach for about $20. The water is like Galveston's on a good day. The 2 full days at sea were very relaxing, even though very cloudy and windy one day. The cruise director,Jen, is a riot.
