Norwegian Breakaway

February 2020 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

Another great NCL cruise!

I have nothing negative to say about the overall cruise experience on NCL. For the past 20 years, we've usually taken an annual cruise on Princess, Carnival, RCCL or NCL. Each one has positive and negatives. We usually travel with mostly adults but have been with children and grandchildren as well. I suggest going off season if possible to avoid up to 50% children on board during summers and holidays. We went once during Thanksgiving break and it seemed the parents let the children run-a-muck. Never again during peak times! Most of our cruises have been in winter and this seems to work well for us.

Norwegian Getaway

December 2019 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (New Orleans Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

50th anniversary Cruise

Another great cruise. We've cruised with four different cruise lines and there things we like about each of them. I would say our favorite part of NCL's Epic and Getaway is the freestyle dining and all the dining options, even without trying their specialty dining venues.

Norwegian Epic

February 2019 - 7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Epic

Dance cruise

We had been on the Epic once before and knew it was not our favorite ship but wanted to accompany our sister and her friend that were traveling as part of a dance package through a special travel agency. There were mechanical issues with the ship so we missed the ports of call we were scheduled for which was disappointing but unavoidable considering the problems with the ship. NCL made it up to us by offering a complimentary future cruise that we've booked for Feb. 01,2020. We are glass half full people and a cruise is what you make of it. I've never been on a cruise I didn't enjoy. Looking forward to sailing on the Getaway, it has a mini golf course!

Carnival Triumph

September 2018 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (New Orleans Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Triumph

Just got back from cruising on the Carnival triumph. Seas were calm and we experienced another great cruise. But I will have to say that the muster drill was miserable 😩. After cruising on Royal Caribbean many times we became used to muster drills being conducted in the AC, by using lounges or theater areas. On Carnival for our last 2 cruises, 🚢 we were stacked 5 rows deep, standing shoulder to shoulder on deck in the tropical 🌴 FL heat for 30 min. I’m surprised no one passed out or had a panic attack. Carnival has to do something differently. Maybe when the Triumph is revamped in 2019, they can move the muster stations/safety drills inside??

Carnival Fantasy

April 2018 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (Mobile Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Fantasy

Cruised on the Fantasy from Mobile on April 16th for 5 nights at a great price. Onboard games and activities with fellow cruisers were fun. We also enjoyed the family friendly comedy shows. We’re seasoned cruisers and find Carnival food and games more to our liking than some of the more expensive trips we’ve taken. We had such a good time we’re booked on the Triumph in 3 months!

Cruise tips

Port Canaveral, Florida

No excursion but the parking was easy and a very short walk to embark. The cost for 7 days was $136.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Nice port with plenty of excursions available but we took a taxi to shopping area, there wasn't much to pick from.

Cozumel, Mexico

Plenty of excursions available but again we chose to take a taxi to the ruins.

Norwegian Breakaway

If you want to see complimentary shows that are already sold out don't let that stop you from going. We never had a problem just showing up and presenting our room key. We didn't try any other the other shows that cost extra.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

We took the free shuttle from the dock to the town and did a 1 hour city tour on a clean modern bus. Not much to see but still interesting.

Norwegian Getaway

Even if you can't get reservations you can still attend the complimentary shows. We never had a problem. just showing up for the

Port Canaveral, Florida

Canaveral is one of our favorite ports to sail from because they seem to have their act together. NOLA, on the other hand, not so much.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Due to problems with the ship we didn't get to visit any of the ports we were scheduled for. NCL did make it up to us with a free future cruies.
