March 2016 - 4 Night Catalina & Baja Mexico (Los Angeles Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Imagination
Poor decisions in bad weather
The first few days the ship was tossed around by foul weather. The cruise line opted to make the first day at sea, since rain was predicted for a scheduled port stop. Good decision. However, instead of going to Ensenada on the next day, the cruise line opted to go to Catalina first. Bad decision. Ensenada is a port where the ship docks. Catalina is a port where passengers need to be tendered to the island. Though the weather was sunny, the sea was still very choppy. Because the cruise line stopped at Catalina first, we were unable to get off the ship and the port call was canceled. If the ship had gone to Ensenada first, it could have docked regardless of the weather. We lost a day in port because of poor decisions by cruise line.
