November 2014 - Majesty of the Seas to Caribbean - Bahamas
This was my husband and I first cruise. We purchase this cruise last min (the day before) from because our other cruise on the Bahamas Celebration was canceled. We have a smooth purchase process. Arrive at the Port of Miami around 2;30pm, I would advise arriving around this time if possible because it's less crowded and you have less of a wait in the line (ship left at 4pm).
Bahamas port was awesome! you have a full day and night to enjoy the island. I would not advise purchases a tour package on the boat. Just wait until you get off of the ship and there are plenty of cheap tours for you to take. Don't worry, the Bahamas regulates all tour agents, so it's not like you're going off with some strange guy/girl. Just maybe sure they have a id badge. The tour was great, we went to the Queen Ann staircase, 2 beaches, shopping at the straw market, tour the fort, and to hotel Atlantis for about 1hr! We also rode around and she gave fun facts and history about the island, like where Michael Jordan lives. Most of the tours take you to the same places, so go with the one that's cheapest (we paid $25per person). The tour guide was great, very knowledgeable about the island and very friendly. The tour lasted about 3 hrs. After which we got back on the boat for lunch and about 1hr rest time. We then got back off the ship and when to the main shopping district with all the luxury shops. We also took a bus ride ($1.50 per person) to Fish Fry (it's a st with alot of eatery places). We had to try conch fritters, they are like shell fish filled hush puppies.
We couldn't stop at Coco Kay, because there was strong winds and currents, so we spend the day on the boat. It was ok, we just drank and went to the pool.
This was also great. We didn't do a guided tour this time, we just kind of walked around and did our own thing. We got a map and circled some fun spots we wanted to visit. The Key West winery, we got a free tasting and brought pouches of wine. You can drink on the street there, so that was fun to carry around. Of course we have to get some Key Lime pie. We went to the Key Lime Pie factory, it was ok......average at best, and cost $7 a slice. We also toured Hemingway's house. That was very neat. It was $13 and you can do it guided or not.
Overall the cruise was eat, on the ship there was enough to do. The entertainment was average, except for the Zerro like performer, he was great! The also have a fun adult comedy show and an adult scavenger hunt event. The pool was ok, but the hot tub was always filled with people and kids. The state room was nice and gets cleaned 2 times a day.
I have this review helps you! Happy travels!!!!
