swrightco's Tips

Belize City, Belize - What a nice surprise! We initially were going to stay on the ship for a quiet recoup day midway through the cruise. But when our day at Grand Cayman was cancelled we decided to go cave tubing at Belize. We booked through Carnival due to concerns with the distance to the excursion. We returned with about 2 hours to spare, so no problems there. The bus ride was comfortable and the tour guides were fun and informative. We passed the Sleeping Giant mountain formation on the ride to the caves. It was pretty cool to see. The walk to the caves was about 40 minutes at a slow pace and our guide Dennis had great knowledge if the nature along the path. The cave tubing was great. Our bus guide Tarik suggested we try the drink called the Panty Ripper, very good! And the food at the cave park was also good, Belize tacos. Take the cave tubing excursion, you'll never forget it.
Miami, Florida - We arrived in Miami the day before the cruise and took the Island Queen boat tour which was great. The tour took us around Star island, the cruise port and several other islands. Very relaxing and enjoyed some good drinks also. We also enjoyed dining at Bubba Gump's and shopping at the Bayside Mall. We're glad we decided to come in a day before the cruise.
Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras - We had a great day at Roatan even though the weather was less than cooperative. Carnival's port shopping area was nice. We were able to find some souvenirs there and photos by the Mahogany Bay sign. Then on to a great private tour through Victor Bodden Tours. Our driver Howard took us to Victor's Monkey Business zoo where we had a great interactive experience with howler monkeys, macaws, parrots and baby iguanas. We also fed the pygmy deer which brought smiles to my wife. Then Howard continued the tour thru West End and West Bay where we spent the afternoon at Bananarama resort for drinks, lunch and plenty of time walking the beach. Howard returned us to port with plenty of time to shop without any fear of being a dock runner. We look forward to returning to Roatan and highly recommend taking the private tour.
