Carnival Pride

January 2016 - Carnival Pride to Caribbean - Southern

Good value for the price

Carnival has a reputation for being the "Fun" ship and my wife and I were not sure it would be a good match for us.  We were pleasantly surprised.  Food was better than expected, especially outside of the main dining room.  Shushi restaurant was terrific as was the steakhouse.  Guy's Burgers also good.  Ship seemed to be in very good repair and kept clean in all areas.  Smoking in the Casino was a problem for us, as smoke drifts into the main atrium.  But, the staff was terrific and the stateroom was more than adequate.  For the price, I'd recommend it.

ss20910's Tips

Oranjestad, Aruba - We are not great shoppers, so the main town had little for us. We did have an amazing dinner at "Passion on the Beach" where we dined just feet from the surf. Very romantic meal at sunset.
Grand Turk Island - Get away from the cruise port and explore the town. Very good history museum there to visit and some lovely houses.
Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I. - small town with taxi drivers that fight over you as soon as you step off the pier. Visit the Botanical Gardens and the Sugar Mill Musem nearby, both worth it.
Carnival Pride Carnival Pride - Try to get away from the large groups going on shore excursions and do some exploring on your own. We met very friendly locals that way and didn't feel like we were herded from ship to bus to ship.
