For example: The Library had a wonderful view , great mocha coffee, puzzles ,books. but if you wanted to get on the internet to go through your email. .. forget it. That did not work. No Air service.

Holland America as a cruise line is ok. But this particular ship is awful. Pick another ship.

If you are departing around 4pm get to the cruise terminal early -- we arrived just after 12 noon and were allowed on and suspect other guests were there earlier. Ask the front desk for a later departure and most likely it will be granted.

It's a big ship at first. But as days progress, walking distance around the ship becomes manageable.

Don't buy wine on the excursions to drink on board. They charge 18 Euros for un corking fee. Better off to bring your favorite wines with you instead.

If you enjoy quality entertainment of the type provided by Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and NCL then don't sail on the Zuiderdam.

Don't expect the quality of the other Holland America ships. The Zuiderdam is older and is indeed of direction.

When we boarded around 12:30 we were very surprised that our cabin was ready as it usually isn't until at least 1:30. This was wonderful as we could get rid of our carry on luggage. After we had lunch and returned to the cabin our luggage was already there and this was a bonus to getting settled.

Even though the guidelines stated not to book flights before 1:00 pm, you can clearly book as early as 11:30. I changed my ticket the day before disembarkation and it cost me an additional $167. to arrive home before 6:00 pm instead of 11:00 pm. Suggest this recommendation be reconsidered.
