Review summary

In May weather is cool & sometimes windy on tours. Prepare with a waterproof jacket with hood. If you are out on the water canoeing, you'll definitely want more than that, i.e. gloves, hat, sweater, warm pants, maybe two layers on pants. On boat, temperatures are pleasantly warm, so you will want some short sleeve options. This trip was for extended family visiting time, so activities, food and destination was chosen with that in mind. We had a great trip, but if I was traveling with alone with my husband and young adult children I would choose a different cruise line as my husband and I enjoy a younger energy onboard.

Embarkation

Quickest onboarding I've every had.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Specialty restaurant Pinnacle Grill was very good, and room service bacon and eggs were very good and yogurt with fruit. Lido buffet needed improvement for variety for lunch, I never had dinner there. Dining Room food didn't have enough vegetable and fruit selections. Would have enjoyed more spices and different ethnic food variety. May have had to do with older population wanting blander foods. Could have used more sugar free options in general. Not a heavy drinker, but drink service seemed to be very good. Needed to have a menu of sparkling non alcoholic drinks available on drink package.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Fitness center had great views, equipment & few people! Bingo was enjoyable. Would have liked Ballroom, i.e. tango, partner dancing classes.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Comedian kept it clean which was great. Only saw part of one dancing show and modern ballet was very good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room stewards were excellent as well as room service. Bar service was very good as well as lido deck service. Dining room wait staff was not as personalized as past experiences, they are probably short staffed as every industry now. All crew greeting us in hallways, which was very impressive.

Ship tip

Get to any painting activities very early.

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts Did not visit port

Just got on the ship, didn't have time to explore.

Portland, Maine

3 out of 5
Just walked near the cruise port, so it wasn't exciting.

EASTPORT, MAINE

4 out of 5
Took a ferry out to island and ate lobster at Island Lobster Company. It had a great atmosphere. Make sure to go out early, as there isn't much left to do.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

4 out of 5
Only good because I took a tour. Went to Titanic burial place and to Lighthouse - very pretty, would have liked to stay longer here and less at Titanic.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

4 out of 5
Only good for me because I took tour to Alexander Graham Bell museum, which was fascinating. Long distance to get there, but motor coach guides are excellent.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
Great place and beautiful, right off the boat. Quaint town for shopping.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Lounges weren't crowded. Easy process.
