30 day cruise started from Singapore and went smoothly until news about Corona Virus started to spread. By the time the ship reached Vietnam changes were being made to our upcoming ports. After leaving Hong Kong with some new passengers we immediately started to be denied entry to ports of call. First denial was Manila so we diverted to another port but that was changed after docking and so on and so on. We ended up getting denied entry by 4 different countries until Cambodia stepped up and let our cruise end in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

This was a wonderful way of discovering Asia and celebrating the holidays at the same time. We met great people from all over. And we can only applaud the friendliness and dedication of all crew members

Enjoyed the ports, but would never cruise HAL again

Overall a nice cruise on a well maintained ship. The two unpleasant experiences were already detailed in previous sections- overly zealous coffee police, and almost nonexistent internet service.

Due to health issues received excellent care, departed to Juneau hospital. Staff packed our luggage and had it delivered to hospital ,which we received excellent care. Everyone went above and beyond. Ship called twice to check on my husbands progress. Hope we will be able to cruise again.

Best cruise we've taken out of 12. Amazing views, beautiful scenery, great staff, overall wonderful vacation. Best anniversary ever.

We will never take a Holland American cruise again

This was my first cruise. The service and staff were excellent. I was disappointed in the activity options. And I really didn't care for the the sales pitch at the end of all of the "free" seminars. I felt like the cruise line was trying to get as much money as possible out of me. The port call in Haines was the best, because we were the only ship there. There were 4-5 ships in Juneau and Ketchikan, so it really felt like a cattle call. I much preferred the land portion of the trip. The hotel in Denali was outstanding!

Overall it was a great cruise on an ok ship. I left some important belongings behind that were never turned in to lost and found.

Nice way to discover Alaska, a few ports, a few sea days, lots of beautiful vistas and one great refurbished ship. Bring lots of various pieces of clothing, dress in layers, got cooler and warmer than expected! Lots of things to do and see, plan your budget accordingly!

The staff and entertainment were excellent. We picked the right amount of shore excursions and most I would do all over again. The food selections were great, but at times not very warm and sometimes not prepared for the rush of people as we had to wait on buffet food quite a bit. Overall an excellent ship and trip and will definitely be sailing with HAL again in the future.

Alaska is beautiful, however, I would never travel with Holland America or any of their ships again. Ships dirty, staff rude, and for what it cost was a total waste of our money. Extremely disappointed.

There are many ways to see whales. Try to combine fishing or something besides a whale watching tour.

We had a wonderful time. We are campers, so even though we enjoyed the cruise, the next time we go to Alaska we will camp. That way we can enjoy spending more time at the places we enjoy. It was a nice sneak peak, but way to rushed.

The cruise exceeded our expectations. Everything was outstanding - accommodations, fool, service, tours, - even the weather was great with clear skies and temps in the upper 60s and low 70s.

We had a magnificent and enjoyable time. The food was excellent on the ship as always. Most of the resorts were very nice and clean. When we were at the resorts between June 17-22 it was daylight all night long and the sun would set around 10 to 11:00 pm. That was quite interesting. The temperatures between 65°-80° which was very enjoyable however quite warm for this time of the year in Alaska and very lucky we had no rain.

The last time we cruised with Holland America was in 2000. At that time we found HAL among the elite in the cruise line industry. The ship we cruised on then was pristine in every way but the Westerdam did not meet that same standard. Additionally, on this cruise HAL made promises for offers and sold services to us that they cannot, will not, or are incapable to provide. My wife and I were offered a complimentary dinner at the Pinnacle Grill but when we got onboard we were not provided a reservation as were our traveling companions. We paid $89.99 for a week's worth of internet service but the service was so poor it was rarely useable. We found the Customer Service Desk confused and rarely able to provide help. They rescheduled us for the Pinnacle Grill dinner but that turned out to be a sham. When our friends tried to adjust their Pinnacle Grill reservation to match ours they found out that we did not have a reservation and, in fact, the one they once had had disappeared too. Finally, HAL seems to be a favorite for older, less than ambulatory, passengers. There isn't much HAL can do in this regard but for the younger, fully functional, traveler HAL probably is not a good choice.
