I thought the Staterooms were larger than other ships. I thought the Linens were great, and the bed comfortable with the new hotel bedding. I thought the crew was courteous and helpful. I liked the way the crew was acknowledged at the end of the cruise at the disembarkment meeting. I liked the open seating. I liked Half Moon Cay.

Definitely caters to a certain audience. The repeat Holland America cruisers we spoke to, were happy with the trip. We were in for a bit of culture shock. * Under no circumstances should it be considered acceptable for smoke to permeate the staterooms of non-smoking passengers. Because they allow smoking anywhere on the ship -- there isn't even a single floor/deck set aside for non-smokers -- cigarette smoke is felt as soon as you step on board the ship. * Except for the pizza and taco bars, there was almost no "off-hours" food service -- lunch hours were strictly 12 - 1:30, and afternoons or > 9pm it was hard to find any edible snacks. The last day's breakfast is over by 8am, even though the last group disembarks at 10:15am. * Entertainment was limited (karaoke was contest-only; theatrical shows were revue/variety only). Food lacked variety -- no tropical fruit or various smoked fish for breakfast, like on Princess. Not enough dancing -- actually, no dance classes at all. No karaoke, except for the contest which you must enter on the first night, and there's more verbal abuse of the contestants (a la american idol) than there is actual singing. No real cover bands like Norwegian; would be nice to have some reggae to get into the spirit. Instead they try to be classy with a string quartet before dinner, which gets boring, and anyway they were flat / out of tune. * The sauna/spa is a joke, it's tiny compared to other cruise lines, I think the "real" sauna is not free and part of the spa package (not like princess). * Food is definitely not any better than other cruise lines, though the "loyal customers" swear by it, and adore the head chef, it's not that imaginative or memorable. Lamb and escargot were good though.

this is a very large ship and shore excursions were not cordinated well, most left the ship late therefore cutting them short and were too expensive for what they entailed. did not think dining rom staff were as sharp as the other hal ships I have been on. however our cabin was a "10"!my major complaint was could not hear the public announcements in the cabin, had to open door to hear what was being announced, even in some public spaces still coult not hear.

We were very impressed with the Holland America Westerdam. My husband and I took this vacation alone and we loved the laid back atmosphere, we chose not to schedule a certain dinner time and therefore we just ate whenever and whatever we wanted and all the food was excellent. Everyone was extremely friendly and always wanting to serve us. I will recommend the ship and most definiately Price Line everything works so smooth no complications at all.

Generally v. good - room service over 6 days could never deliver the breakfasst ordered and never removed a tray until numerous requests were made!!

This was our first cruise, so we weren't sure what to expect. The staff of the Westerdam was very friendly and helpful, and the information given over announcements and programs in our room answered all of our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise experience!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our experiences of spending time together. The glaciers were amazing, along with the mountains, water, and the people on the ship. I read an article in Juneau about cruise ships, use of fuel, and pollution. That bothered us. We LOVE to go on cruises, but we feel a bit convicted because we're contributing to the problem.

Holland America provides very good value overall with lots of choice for food, fun and excursions. Our room steward was very good natured, very attentive and provided reliable service. The views from the ship and shore were spectacular, and the excursions (we chose the lazy ones) were all about nature, which is plentiful in Alaska. All of our tour guides were wonderful, friendly and informative. They seem to love the tourists and love their state! Only down sides: Room service NEVER got our orders correct (we had breakfast in our cabin most of the time, and ordered three late night snacks). Two of our excursions were cancelled due to fog and the possibility of arriving late back to the ship, but we were refunded. If you are a Coke-a-holic like we are, you can spend a fortune on soda. Bring your own as much as you can. Don't use the spa salon to get more than a hair cut - it's horribly expensive!

Fantastic cruise ship.

I will continue to use for Hotels and Air Fare, but I will never book a cruise through them again. They didn't have the knowledge of the ship that we needed. They told me that my husband's electric wheelchair would fit in the room; however it did not.Every time we went out, we had to disassemble the chair and then reassemble it in the hall. Also, I asked for a non smoking room and we were in a smoking room that stank. Also, because we booked on Feb 29th, we were given a coupon for a night's stay at a hotel. We never received it; even after calling twice for it. Each time we were told that they would call us back within a few hours and never were. The ms Westerdam, Holland America Cruise Lines, was wonderful!!!!

The ship was lovely. The staterooms are very large and closet space is exceptionally large.

We enjoyed our time on the Westerdam. Although we had open seating we were able to sit at the same table every night with our companions and have the same server whom we got to know a little and appreciated that he got to know us as well ,or seemed to. The service in the dining room was excellent and we all wanted to take Putu home with us at the end of the cruise. The food was delicious. The entertainment was family oriented which I appreciated. I appreciated having religious services on board available for those who wanted to worship.

Very clean. Easy and quick embarcation and disembarcation. Food plentiful and good to very good food. Room and food staff always smiling and helpful (although oddly there was almost always some breakfast mixup). Great fresh orange juice each day. shows entertaining although production numbers sometimes missed. Would have liked more activities in days at sea and someties public space was not adequate ( line dancing crammed togetherin library!)

extremely clean, nice people, just got pampered all the way.

Overall this was a good ship. The rooms and dining areas were good and the crew was great. The major problem with this ship was the noise it made in rough water due to a flexing mechanism built into it.
