This cruise was disappointing. I understand having to make changes due to the weather, but there were other aspects of the cruise that did not meet my expectations.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
It was smooth, no problems
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was average, and not always hot when it arrived.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There was an excellent speaker who gave several talks about Einstein and science, including some controversial aspects. He was very entertaining. There were also several sports and other activities that I did not find interesting. The daily trivia play was fun.
Entertainment

The dance/musical performances were very good except that, after the first show, we wore earplugs for the others. Cantare, the singing quartet, was also very good. The "mentalist" was pretty dull. The comedian was also dull. I booked this cruise looking forward to the performances on the Lincoln Center Stage, only to find that these have been stopped and it was all rock & roll all the time everywhere on the ship.
We had to skip Kushiro, Japan due to bad weather. I had really been looking forward to that stop. We also didn't sail through the Inside Passage of Alaska, as originally planned. that was a big disappointment. The stops in Alaska were okay but, again due to weather, the shore excursion that we planned was cancelled. I know that the cruise line can't control the weather, but it was still disappointing. The views around Kodiak were spectacular, though.
This is not a port. It was no big deal except for the rough seas. I discovered that it is difficult to give up one hour sleep every night, especially if you are not sleeping well due to rough weather.
I had been to Kodiak before. There is not much there. The transportation from the ship to the town was very limited so I stayed on the ship and had a pedicure.
I did do an excursion, although I don't think I saw any more than I would have just by taking the transportation provided into the town. It is a cute town.
Our original excursion was cancelled. We took another more abbreviated one. The weather was rainy and our boat trip was okay. It was supposed to be a wildlife cruise, but we didn't see much wildlife: one eagle, some porpoises which I missed by blinking at the wrong time.
