Review summary

This was our first cruise, so we weren't sure what to expect. The staff of the Westerdam was very friendly and helpful, and the information given over announcements and programs in our room answered all of our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise experience!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We would have liked to select our table for seating, rather than having the same location (away from the water view) each evening, but the food was very good and artfully served by friendly wait staff.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Many of the activities had an additional fee and many were not things we were interested in. We did attend some incredible shows, though.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Spotlessly clean!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our stateroom was incredible! The bed and pillows were VERY comfortable, we had a small refrigerator and a safe, and plenty of room to put clothes away. Cabin steward was GREAT, and gave us his card to call if we needed anything.

Ports of call

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
In Sitka we enjoyed a visit to the Raptor Center - a care facility for injured birds - and a guided nature walk through the Sitka Historical Park. We also enjoyed a Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest where we were fortunate to see sea otters, seals, humpback whales, eagles, and even a very large brown bear on the shore.
Don't Miss: Raptor Center, Sitka Historical Park

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
We went on a Photo Safari by Land and Sea that was AWESOME! The small group size allowed was great, and we got great tips and then photos of whales, eagles, sea lions and more. The shopping was also great in town, and the ship's shopping ambassador prepared us well for where the best deals were.
Don't Miss: The Mendenhall Glacier

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
We were only in port until 1:00, so we had to make every minute count. We did a wilderness hike through very rugged terrain and then spent some time shopping at our carefully planned (because of short time) shops.
Don't Miss: shopping

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
We love Victoria and have enjoyed this beautiful city on several occasions. Unfortunately, when our ship pulled into port Saturday evening, most of the shops and activities were closed.
Don't Miss: Butchart Gardens

Pros: Food was good and abundant, room service at no additional cost was great!

Cons: Cost of alcoholic beverages was steep

Recommends Westerdam? Yes!
