First Cruise - Unimpressed

Sail Date: January 28, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

3 things stick out the most to us. First, there was a illness outbreak on the ship and it seemed everyone we talked to got sick or had someone in their party that had been sick.

Second, the food was terrible. Low quality. I paid alot of money and expected to eat better then I would at a high school cafeteria.

Third, it really felt like at every turn they were trying to squeeze more money out of us. It was really petty.

Im not sure if we will try royal caribbean ever again.

Pros: Overall liked being on a cruise,

Cons: Food was severely lacking, constant attempt to sell us stuff, illness outbreak on ship

Recommends Voyager of the Seas? No.

Ship Quality
After a few days at sea, things got old. Voyager is, by todays standards, a smaller ship and has less to do, less food options, etc. The ship was fine otherwise. We didnt feel confined or anything, just wish there were more restaurants, etc. Seemed like after 3 days we were in a routine and not much way to get out of it.
Service and Staff
One 1 member of the ship staff impressed us. Our housekeeper. The rest of the ship's personnel seemed to care less about what we wanted or barely speak enough english to help us, unless of course in involved them getting a tip. We could get a drink quick (which we had to pay for) but getting a class of water was almost impossible.
We would have liked to see more modern activities. They had some poker tournaments, Karaoke, etc and those were nice. Newer / bigger ships seem to have more modern entertainment. (like the show "Chicago")
Food and Dining
Food was awful My wife compared the Windjammer Cafe to a low quality chain buffet. The main dining room is uncomfortable and the food was lackluster. Only good meal was the Portifino restaurant, which we had to pay $40 extra for.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a balcony stateroom, which was very nice. A little older, but well cared for.
