Review summary

This cruise was horrific! We we're rerouted for a medical emergency, not sure why they didn't helicopter the poor man off the cruise, but they didn't. We missed our stop in Honduras and the cruise line did nothing to make amends. I would want the best care for my family, but I would not expect a cruise ship full of people to be out on my part with nothing but a "thanks for understanding". Concerning that he was ill enough to need medical attention worthy of rerouting the ship, yet he could stay on board for the 10 hours it took to get to Mexico! Maybe they can't accommodate a helicopter landing?!. The employees were rude overall, felt like it was the ship employees either trained on or were sent to for remediation. The ship is VERY SMALL, you can not get food or drinks 24/7, there is one small outdoor pool so you have to fight for chairs if you want to enjoy the sun poolside. We were given one price for the drink package and charged much more. When we spoke with guest services about the price difference they were uncaring and basically told us the price is what it is. The ship smelled of feces on the last 2 days, a malfunctioning system they said. Unsanitary and disgusting!! We had excursions get cancelled last minute with no comparable alternatives and most already sold out since we didn't find out it was cancelled till the morning of. Nightlife is pretty nonexistent, one bar/club open at night. Sadly if you're not into a night club you will be in bed early!

The good: our room attendant Yvette was amazing, friendly, took great care of us!

The main dining room had wonderful food and terrific service. Mexico and Belize are beautiful, a definite must visit, just not on the Vision of the Seas!

I can't believe somebody would complain that much about having to reroute from medical emergency! Good grief, you value your vacation more than someone else's life? I have been on Vision of the Seas three times in the last 18 months and I booked on her again this month and again next month for a two week transatlantic crossing. The crew is awesome, and very friendly. If you didn't find them to be the same then I suggest it was your attitude which, quite frankly, I find shocking.

Did you want him to jump !! No heliport on that small ship. I too was just rerouted for medical emergency. Some of us more concerned about the sick passenger than our inconvenience

If you read my post you might actually see that my concern was that he waited hours on the ship to arrive in Mexico to get the necessary medical attention. In medical emergencies time is crucial. The lido did not have coffee tea water etc available 24/7 and room service was available at night for a fee.

Glad you all enjoyed your cruise, clearly you weren't on the sewage floor or you may have been disappointed as well.

Do agree with cruiselover64 it's what you make of it... I was on this cruise and thought it was great... I sure hope you never need medical attention on a ship no heart...

You did not know that it was a small ship when you booked it ?  I'm sure the Lido had Coffee and Ice tea and water 24/7... what about room service that is 24/7 ?

If you book a 2nd cruise I suggest a bit of research goes a long way.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip but your standards must be far lower than mine. I have a hard time enjoying 2 straight days of smelling sewage. We are all entitled to our opinions so please respect mine. I paid a lot of money for a once in a lifetime vacation, I will discuss the disappointments so others can make an informed decision.

You must have an axe to grind or just can't be satisfied by anyone or anything. We were on that ship recently and it was excellent. Yes, it's smaller than the largest ships, but some of us enjoy that. In any case, we all have a right to an opinion. So remember next time, that a cruise or any vacation is what you make of it.
