Review summary
The Vision of the Seas was ok, it had been updated but there was not as much to do on board as I would have liked. Our service from the dining rooms to our stateroom was excellent. Everyone on board was very friendly and accommodating. The food was not as good as we had on our last cruise with Royal Caribbean. One major negative was the smoking areas on board, the casino was so smoke filled most of the time we did not even spend any time there. Maybe that is not an issue for most people but being from a nonsmoking family and from a state that prohibits smoking in public places I was a bit surprised how many times I was bothered by smoke. The musical performances were "cheesy" at best. Our last cruise was on the Jewel of the Seas with is slightly bigger and I did not have an issue with motion, the water did not appear to be unusually rough but you could feel a lot of movement throughout the ship especially the higher up you would go. We had heard from several others that they too thought that the ride was rather rough. Finally, the destinations were great, we booked all of our excursions on our own and they worked out perfectly. We were picked up on time and returned to port in plenty of time to make the ship. By not booking through the ship we saved quite a bit of money. The only other major negative was the disembarking, we were 45 minutes late, and it was very unorganized. Overall we had a great time because of the group we were with, but if you are looking for a boat with a lot of bells and whistles you may want to look elsewhere.
