Review summary
My husband and I have taken our four girls and their hubbies on cruises for their birthdays this year, and we decided to try different lines just to see what everyone has to offer. This was our third cruise this year and our first on Royal Caribbean. Perhaps because we had just came off the BEST CRUISE EVER on Norwegian Pearl, or perhaps because of the hype we had heard about Royal Caribbean being the best may have heightened our expectations, but we were disappointed. The staterooms did not compare to the aesthetics on the Pearl or the Carnival Sensation, very "generic hotel." Every day the hallways outside our staterooms were cluttered with soiled linen bags and the cleaning cart. I could understand this in the mornings, but it was all day, every day. The staff did make a genuine effort to be friendly but they seemed very rushed and stressed. I wonder if they were not understaffed. It was the first cruise ever for our two girls and their fellows, and to be fair, they were completely thrilled and are eagerly planning their next trips. As I said, we had very high expectations. The dining room food and service was the bright spot for us, although we were only able to eat dinner there since there were no signs indicating to use other floors at lunch, and we thought it was closed because it seemed abandoned. Still, even though we had some disappointments, we had a good time. Would we choose Royal Caribbean again? Only if they had a SIGNIFICANT better deal over Norwegian or Carnival.

Ship tip
Eat in the dining room, check all the entrances to find out which are open. It's worth the hassle.
