Review summary

We expected more. Got food poisoning but Viking would not refund our excursion in Barcelona. Several of us on the same train (Viking arranged) came down with this. My wife came down with a stomach bug and you could see Viking making a sttonger effort to get people to wash their hands. Toilets were working intermittently for 6 days but no announcement from Viking. Captain was pretty much a no show.

We were on the Madrid pre cruise extension. Took train to Barcelona. Bags were late. Got good poisoning from meal on the train.

Food was good but we expected better. Celebrity Retreat on an Edge class is better.

Onboard Activities

Not much variety. We enjoyed two of the shows put on by the Viking singers. Otherwise it was not much to get excited about. We also didn’t expect much.

Room steward was great. World Cafe staff could have been better. Guest Services were not up to our expectations of Viking.

Needed to focus more on cleaning handrails and getting guests to wash hands. A stomach bug was making its way through the ship.

Went well except that Viking Air would only book a 6:30 AM flight and we had a bus at 3:15 AM. No more Viking Air for us!

Hope your wife is better! Sorry about the food poisoning. Did the Train Company try to do anything for the people who got sick? They are the ones responsible. Hopefully your next trip on a different line will be better and making your own flight arrangements is probably a better thing for you. Safe travels in the future.
