Veendam Cruise Review to Canada, New England, New York
Sail Date: September 28, 2013
Cabin Type: Oceanview
Cabin Number: GUAR
Traveled As: Singles/Friends
Reviewed: 3 years ago
The crew of the Veendam was split into groups of capabilities -
Highest for praise was the entertainers. So talented.
Lowest praise for the cafeteria staff that seemr=ed to be in taining for what the food was and how to serve it. A most hardly spoke English.
Inbetween was the room staff taking care of the halls and rooms and deck. They were pleasant enough and took care of basic needs. The wierd thing was that every day they vacuumed the hall and dusted and scurried about always looking busy. That doesn't sound bad, but the equipment was always in the hall and needed to be walked over or around.
The waiters on all decks in the lounges and restaurants pushed drinks - really psh them more than any other cruise I've been on (5).
The excursion staff did not have any recommendations or information about our stops - except to take an excursion!
And the food was average. It was plated well and looked pretty, but real taste was missing. Every cream of soup tasted like a heavy dose of flour and water.
As for the stops and towns, they were wonderful and beautiful and made the trip worthwhile.
