Just come back from a... by cruisesRcool

Sail Date: /

Just come back from a brilliant cruise on the Marella Dream! The ports were brilliant and excursions were very well put together and often taken by people native to the country this gave you a massive insight into the culture of the place you were visiting! The ship is old but doesn’t really show - I would say it’s cute and shabby, cannot fault the staff they were perfect. On the last day we could do a tour of the Bridge, and we met the Captain - he was the nicest gentleman you will ever meet! Was willing to answer all my questions about the ship and the cruise, as I first time cruiser I couldn’t fault the ship or the staff, and the captain’s wonderful was the icing on the cake. (Captain Alan) just in case you cruise with a different captain. The best place to eat was the Orion restaurant, as was all inclusive but al cârte menu. Will definitely miss our wonderful waiting staff of Priyanto, Jason and Adley who were so unbelievably kind when the boat was particularly rocky one night and I felt sea sick, providing me with some apple and crackers to help ease the sea sickness- they went above and beyond! Would give this 10/5 stars if I could!!

So far so good. Day... by tonmar01

Sail Date: /

So far so good. Day five of fourteen day cruise. Staff are so friendly and nothing is any trouble. Very clean. Not seen much entertainment yet but what we have seen has been good spent most of our time enjoying the sunsets with a drink or two lol. We are here to celebrate the two of us turning 50 . It was my birthday two days before we joined the ship and my partner birthday the day after we joined. We had put cards up in our cabin but not actually told anyone. We then had an invite for a free photo sitting with the professional photographer. Great service really don't want this to end.

First time cruiser so had... by Jimbow17

Sail Date: /

First time cruiser so had no idea what to expect! Small ship but more than enough space to wonder and do your own thing. Staff and food are great and entertainment shows in the evening are faultless! Marrella cruise at night so woke up in a new port every morning. Age of the ship had no influence on our experience of cruising; all in all amazing! Can't wait for my next cruise.

Time to jump ship by kevin200958

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Cruised on Marella Dream June this year, bathroom was never properly cleaned before or during our stay and it was clear to see the previous occupant had bowel issues. Waste bin in our cabin was lined with a used carrier bag. The box of tissues in the bathroom ran out on day two and was never replaced. Food was average to poor and most times warm instead of hot. Wasn’t unusual to find tables dirty at breakfast. The service from drinks waiters was poor and it wasn’t unusual after ordering a drink they never returned. Adult facilities are pointless. Staff do not enforced the rules. Our safety drill was carried out once at sea and for someone new to cruise ships it would have been woefully inadequate. Excursions were overpriced and inaccurate. Very disappointed. Time to jump ship.

Excellent staff and service by gcharlt

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Overall a great cruise a few points i have criticised but nothing major. Feel Marella need to step up a gear in certain areas as people are realising they are beginning to cut corners and people are now thinking of alternative cruise companies who are offering more for the same money. Many people shared these opinions with us while we were on the ship

Brilliant by rochell

Only my second cruise. Lovely ship, smaller than the Discovery I went on last year. Would go on again. Staff were excellent, both the cabin and ship were clean and tidy. The evening shows are very good too. Would recommend.

Really enjoyable Cruise around the Canaries by VMS787

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

This was our first cruise and didn’t know what to expect. I had read reviews and was very apprehensive. However these fears were dispelled at embarkation and throughout the cruise. Excellent experience which we will do again. There are plenty of opportunities at each port to do your own thing with Taxis and Bus tours.

First time cruise on Marella Dream to the Canaries by longshanks56

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Thomson were faultless in their execution of the cruise. All went well, the ship was fine, staff great, ports of call really good. For me it could get a little busy at meal times.

Excellent Colourful Coast Cruise by hazelhiggins

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

We were very apprehensive about going on a cruise again because we found our first cruise to be overcrowded and our fellow cruisers to be very rude. We did not experience this on this cruise however except that we couldn’t get a seat sometimes at the evening entertainment. We were therefore pleasantly surprised that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on this cruise.

Ok Canaries Cruise by Johnray111

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Ship needs updating or putting to sleep but staff and crew were excellent, can be wobbly as it is a smaller ship but overall for a bargain cruise it was ok, we were glad to have a comparison with a more upmarket cruise line but I think we will stick to the larger cruise liners to experience a bit of luxury

Beautiful and fabulous cruise by Tallulah47

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Fabulous....would do it again....found it quite exhausting visiting so many Islands but we'll worth it.. just need a few days chilling on a sunbed now.....the history and views wereally wonderful and loved some of the quaint gift shops on some of the islands....gives you a taster as to whether you would like to visit for longer.

We loved this cruise. It... by zoe1986

Sail Date: /

We loved this cruise. It was the first one we've been on and we weren't disappointed. We picked the Aegean Shores as we wanted to visit a different place each day, and we both love the Greek island. We were on deck 6, right next to the stairs and lift. Perfect. We are at the buffet each night as the vegetarian option in the other restaurants were limited and we were happy not to have to dress up each night. We were exhausted by the end with all the walking and tourist things we did. The only problem we had was the laundry. They had an offer on which we decided would be a good idea and we were on an cruise and stay. Unfortunately, most of the clothes we send has been shrunk, all new for the holiday too. They said in their T&cs shrinkage isn't covered so we're left well out of pocket having to replace the clothes. Other than that, best holiday we've had.

My wife and I have... by GlynB

Sail Date: /

My wife and I have just returned from 2 weeks aboard the Dream and had an amazing holiday. The places we visited were eye openers especially Slovenia, Venice, Marmaris Santorini, Croatia, and the ship and staff are great. Although the ship is showing its age, it is kept clean by an amazingly hard working group of staff, they cannot be praised highly enough, from housekeeping to waiting staff and barstaff. The entertainment team are absolutely brilliant and so hardworking. As I say the ship is showing its age and I probably wouldn't return to it with newer ships available from Thomson, and here lies my biggest problem, while on the whole the holiday was very good, I have issues with Thomson themselves, if you say it's all inclusive, then make it so. Make ALL drinks included, as some are not, believe it or not bottled water is not included ? anything but a bog standard tea or coffee is extra, why should you pay an extra £50 per person per week, on top of all inclusive price to get bottled water, Cappuccino, Archers, decent Brandies, all drinks snacks in cabins are chargeable, they are constantly try to get you to pay extra for anything and everything onboard, bridge visits during sailaways(£14 a head), no included visits to specialist restaurants onboard(£18 a head), photographer in your face every time you leave ship (£10 a photo), turn a corner near a bar each evening and they are there. Top class all inclusive hotels are just that ALL INCLUSIVE ! including everything above. I think it will be a good while before I cruise with Thomson again, if I ever do, which is a shame as I have never had a problem with any of their hotel holidays 😢
