Sail the three seas on Marella Celebration by robinwbarrett

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Marella Celebration a 34 year old ship with a big if somewhat noisy heart. The layout is not ideal, I was on deck 2 outside cabin 736, I, for one never felt any vibration or experienced any excess noise with the exception of the din whilst waiting for the terminally slow elevator 2. What I did experience was a fabulous cabin steward called Arya who cannot do enough for you, every time you leave your cabin it seems the he descends like a dervish and rectifies any mess i may have left. A barmaid called Michelle who was so efficient even though she was hyper as she was leaving the ship in a couple of days to visit her home in the Philippines for three months. All the bar staff were excellent I cannot name them all, I only mention Michelle as she was leaving for a holiday. The waiting staff in the Lido were also very attentive and efficient, again so many and too many to mention individually so I will not upset any by omitting them. The officers and crew from the master down were pleasant, polite and efficient to a man The reception staff were most helpful. And so to the public face of the ship, the entertainments team, I don’t know how they actually manage to eat all they do and remain so slim - yes I do they put on multiple activities and the show team put on SEVEN different shows in a week almost every one employing high energy. So the tin may be passed the sell by date but what is inside is of the highest quality, will I sail on her again, maybe, maybe not, it would depend on the itinerary, would I like to meet all those lovely people again - DEFO SAIL THE THREE SEAS the itinerary that called me to sail on the Marella Celebration, reviewed separately. For me it all started with a 45 mile drive down the A1 at silly o’clock for the 06:50 Boeing 737 from Donny (DSA) to Dubrovnic (DBV) and a half hour coach transfer along the stunning Dalmatian coast. I must at this point thank all the other reviewers who said SIT ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE COACH. As the port cam into sight Cele was dwarfed by the MSC Lirica and Aida Blu The sail away form Dubrovnic was accompanied by music form the outrageously talented MUSIK UNLIMITED for a day at sea down to Celebrations flag port of Valetta, Malta I was pre-booked one both Malta Highlights tour which was a little disappointing due to quite heavy rain. Seabourn Odissey in Port Day 4, Messiina Sicily and the trip of the day was the Godfather Villages for me and I bought an umbrella opposite the world famous Bar Vitelli a today it was torrential. Day 5, Argostoli, Kefalonia, no trip today I decided to have a port day and just mooch around I caught the Red Train for a tour of the city. Weather was overcast but warm and more importantly DRY Day 6, Ingoumenitsa, Greece a glorious day and trip 3 to Necromantia and Parga in. My opinion we would have been better going straight to the picturesque Parga and having more time to explore and enjoy Day 7 up at 5 o’clock for the sail into Kotor in Montenegro - well I say five o’clock my iPhone had not changed the time from Greek so up at four it was then and failed to see the German U-boat pens, breakfast and off on the full day tout Highlights of Montenegro the highlight of which was transiting the road known as the 25 serpents. What a stunning country Day 8 wake up and we are back in Dubrovnik The ret of the time aboard being taken up eating, drinking and watching the excellent productions put on by the show team, I must say my favourite was the Broadway Shows extravaganza the finale being from Les Miserable and the last time I had seen it sung was by the Barricade boys, all of whom have sung the part in the West End, The Marella show team rendition was certainly equal to that

Just on our way home after another brilliant trip on the Celebration. Staff and food fantastic as ever. We had to divert due to weather, but still a very enjoyable trip.

076 see pictures for the... by Archy28

Sail Date: /

076 see pictures for the restricted view. After all the good reviews a bit disappointed. Food wasn’t excellent on captains night we sent 2 plates of food back and on the way out I saw several other unfinished meals on the tables. In general the food was not good in the dated main restaurant and canteen standard in the buffet. The room was reasonably clean, however several times we were not left clean towels and we must have asked 4 or 5 times for a bath mat. Bar and waiter service was very good. There is a shortage of sun beds to guests particularly on sea days. Recommend the bike tours, but be careful to select one that suits your capabilities, some are very hilly.

We had a fab week... by cliff67

Sail Date: /

We had a fab week on this ship, yes it may be an older ship but that gives it character, it is kept spotlessly clean and well looked after. We found it to be a really friendly ship and the staff get to know you as it's a smaller ship. We can't wait for our next cruise on it in September.

Awful by fluffysmum

Absolutely awful cabin. 4 adults in 1 room and 2 grown men on the top bunks. Reception staff have an awful attitude as well.

We spent a week on... by vmac23

Sail Date: /

We spent a week on Celebration as a family of 9 during the Easter holidays. After spending a week on discovery 2 last summer we were so impressed how this ships service compared. All staff were so much more attentive and helpful. We never struggled to find seats around the ship at night time and the day at sea there were ample sun beds available. We had lots of ‘motion in the ocean’ and the weather was hit and miss but this didn’t spoil our holiday. The kids club my 7 year old son and nephew attended over the week was well organised with lots to do. He had a small teddy as a leaving gift which he now sleeps with! All entertainment staff made my son feel special when he entered competitions and all took time to speak to him over the holiday. I can’t wait to return to this ship in the future!

Great adventure on first cruise by Cass60

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Singles/Friends

If you are travelling on your own do not be worried. You can have as much company as you want, but you do have to be open to meeting and talking to others. Get to know your other single travellers by going to the organised meetings and well worth attending. If you are on Facebook, you can join a cruise group and find others going on same cruise.

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

I will never go on a cruise ship again we as a party have been put of for good the islands are amazing eveyone of them but the ship was a different story and for what we payed for the holiday and the cost on the ship extras even though it was full inclusive was a rip of this holiday is a con.

12 Island Caribbean Cruise by AgentGeorge

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

You get to sample 12 Islands, from small to large; the smaller ones are undeveloped and have small roads but the people are the friendliest of the lot. Dominican Republic is unlike any of the other islands, avoid it if you want relaxing beaches, jungle adventures and a slow pace of life The ship was tired and shabby, it was due to be sold last year but an extra 5 years is being squeezed out of it. Cabins had poor AC and outdated fittings in the shower

More T & I than U in the middle by Deano68

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

It’s a 50/50, the size of the ship make you feel like a council estate when next to the modern ships and the top level crew made it a class status cruise but the waiting staff and stewards make you want to use TUI again.
