Review summary

We had a great, relaxing week on the Symphony of the Seas!

Ridiculously quick and easy, especially considering how enormous this ship is.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Delicious food with plenty of choices. We enjoyed main dining so much that we never bothered trying a specialty restaurant.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the Solarium Pool, although it certainly could have been bigger. We also had a great time with the gym, rock climbing wall, and zip line. Most of the other activities are really more oriented towards kids, but it seemed like they were having a blast!

We enjoyed the live guitar music, but the piano guy was ridiculously bad.

Service and Staff

They worked non stop to make us happy!

Cabin / Stateroom

There was plenty of room for the two of us in a balcony cabin, and the staff kept it perfect all week

Ship tip

Book your shows immediately upon boarding the ship. We did, and some of them were already booked solid by 1300 hrs on embarkation day!

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

The Oasis pool and beaches were great, but our excursions and activities were extremely limited due to weather. We enjoyed it anyways!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We took a taxi tour around the island in the morning, and did the turtle snorkel in the afternoon. We found the taxi just off of the dock and he gave us a great two hour trip around St Thomas with plenty of stops for selfies and shopping. The turtle snorkeling had to be amended due to weather, but the crew from Cool Boats USVI brought us to calm waters away from Buck Island and we were able to see some majestic sea turtles!

Basseterre, St. Kitts

I’m very torn about this. We tried the Mt Liamuiga volcano hike, and we enjoyed the challenge, but the views weren’t as great as advertised. The tour size was too big, which lead to a log jam and extremely slow pace. Also it meant that you only get about 1-2 minutes at the peak after a 2.5 hour ascent! A heavy down pour on the descent made it more difficult also, and lead to a healthy fit member of our tour having a leg injury. Much of this hike involved climbing “root ladders” and required three points of contact. My final analysis is that I would not do this hike if you’re not very fit, or if it’s a rainy day.

We stayed near South Beach the night before the cruise. Amazing fun and music, and we had a great run on the beach the next morning! Also checked out Jungle Island for a great petting zoo experience
