Statendam Cruise Review
If you want to really relax, an Alaskan Cruise is the way to go. Embarkation was smooth and completely uncrowded. We were warmly met at the airport in Anchorage and taken by bus to Seward where the cruise began. Our rooms were spacious and immaculate, the beds were quite comfortable and the room stewards were gracious and efficient. Disembarking at the ports of call (Sitka, Juneau and Ketchikan) was handled very well. The entertainment was tasteful and enjoyable, the casino was quite liberal and the music in the bars, especially the Ocean bar where the String Quartet performed, was excellent. The only area that had room for improvement was the food. We found it tasteless and unremarkable. It was, however, served elegantly and promptly and the only thing that kept this cruise from being perfect. Except for that, Holland America far surpasses any other line we've cruised. The tours at the ports of call were great and all the staff was wonderful. Thanks HAL for a really lovely week.
