The Statendam needs to be completely re-done. Many parts have a strong sewer smell. We became ill from the putrid smells and clouds of who knows what and needed to get off. Dutch crew is haughty and lazy. Indonesians are helpful but treated like slaves by the Dutch.

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
food is on par with a cheap all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet that has sat out all day in hot tables.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
cheesee - designed for people who can't see or hear.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
haughty, unhelpful if not outright deceitful. this company is designed to defraud and trick old people. our problem was that we are in our 50s and have all of our faculties. we did not appreciate them trying to rip us off.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
old and run down. dirty. toxic

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
smelly and unusable.. You will need to sleep in chairs in a lounge or bar somewhere.

Pros: alaska

Cons: anything to do with Holland America

Recommends Statendam? No.
