Anytime dining worked out well. Also the casual dining in the Regency Rooms was excellent ... good selection of food and always available for all meals.
Stay in the midship. Don't buy the drink cards, they are expensive. Also Excurisions are overly priced. I was able to find all my excursion on either Orbitz or on my own. On Kauai, we booked a helicopter trip, they wanted 325.00 on the ship and we found it for 189.00 per person. I highly recomm
While the ice cream shop serves soft ice cream at no charge, one of the best-kept secrets on the ship is that they also have hard ice cream and milkshakes - there is a fee, but it is well worth it.
Do not miss tea time as it's a great time to meet some new people when seated at a large table.
Go early for anything happening in the Princess Theater as when show time comes, it is 'standing room only'. Not enough seats for those who want to attend.
Order room service breakfast on those mornings when you have an early shore excursion. The international cafe is our favorite for lunch--light, healthy food choices. The sun deck adjacent to the serenity spa is the perfect quiet place to read your favorite novel and be away from the crowds.
The promenade deck on this class of ship circles the entire boat. It was wonderful being able to get out and get some exercise even on days when it was raining.
We were booked for the fixed dinning but when we got on-board they had changed us to anytime dining. That worded out well for us because we go there when it opened and there wasn't much of a line.Later (around 6:30) had longer lines and wait times.
Traditional dining was excellent. Good service and a good menu. Just be early to the night's entertainment to get a good seat.
Highly recommend anytime dining. The $7 drink plan worked well and balanced the time we were off the boat. Be sure to check out the international cafe on the bottom floor of the piatza--open 24 hrs and has the best desserts on the ship.
Avoid the breakfast buffet lines and opt for the dining room.
Tea time was disappointing. We would be given a scone and then wait 10 min. for the cream to go on top of it. If someone came in late they had to wait and wait to be served next to us.
Tea time is a great experience and even if you are not a tea drinker, we suggest you try it. It is wonderful to take the time to set and talk with each other and with other passengers having tea. You might be surprised how much you can enjoy a cup of tea at tea time ;)
room service for early excursions
Go to the activities offered by the Cruise Director's Staff. You will stay in stitches while learning new words.
The international cafe is a freak place for a snack. If you are a coffee snob like I am, buy the coffee card. It not only gives you the 15 specialty coffees, it includes unlimited brewed coffee.
Room service is to be commended for its timely appearance and cheerfulness upon deiivery.
For me, I really enjoy the pool in the rear of the ship, adults only, and it was used very little. Sort of like having my own pool for the duration of the cruise.
We enjoyed the International Café when dining room was unavailable. Excellent desserts and sandwiches.
To get around the crowding at dining on the 14th floor for breafast or lunch, just go relax in the main dining room and be served a wonder meal in a relaxing environment with fighting for a table on the 14th dining area.
