Review Summary

Hawaii was great. We only wish we had had more time in each port. Leisure time going and coming from Los Angeles was also enjoyable--especially since we had our son's family along. Food was very good. Daytime activities and evening entertainment were of uneven quality. Some was superb. Other was mediocre at best, by our standards.

Ship Experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Anytime dining was very convenient but service was sometimes a bit slow. Buffet was great, with great drink service, though we would have preferred self-serve beverages.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We enjoyed the ping pong and shuffleboard. Enjoyed available tables outside the buffet area where we could play board games with our family.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The magician and the ventriloquist were outstanding. The violinist was also very good. We enjoyed the first night of the ship's singers and dancers but not their "British Invasion" night. We didn't care much for the other musicians. All music in the main theater was much too loud, and the band often overpowered the featured instrumentalist or vocalist. By far the best musicians were the Moonlight Duo, who performed in the Piazza. The comedian who was not a ventriloquist was a bit vulgar for our tastes.

Children's Programs

Duh! Because we aren't children and didn't have any of our own along.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Buffet waitresses and room steward were excellent. Dining room waiters varied. Some were efficient and great. Others were a bit slow and less attentive.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
In general, it was great. In some places rust was evident (especially next to some windows in the outside buffet area.)

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Good layout, good storage area. Didn't feel cramped as we have on some cruises.

Ship Tip

Enjoy the ports, the food, and the leisure time and don't depend on the entertainment to make or break your experience.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very fast and efficient if one carries his own luggage off.
