Rain, Rain, Go Away

Sail Date: September 01, 2012

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The ship was large enough to handle rough seas. It was clean throughout (every piece of metal was polished to mirror perfection, glass and mirrors clear, we saw no litter anywhere). It did take awhile to get comfortable with the elevators because all elevators did not go to all decks. The theater was great with a great sound system and lighting for all shows. The on deck large screen was very clear. Chairs in all lounges were very comfortable.

Pros: Very professional and entertaining shows\, movie selections on deck\, in theater and in room\, size of ship made for smoother travel in rough seas\, overall cleanliness of ship\, service provided by entire staff on board\, ease of embarking and disembarking (smoothest and quickest we've seen).

Cons: The efforts (and cost) to sell goods (particularly photos and art) was very intrusive.

Recommends Star Princess? Yes!

Ship Quality
Elevators were tricky and rest rooms could have been more convenient. The ship was very clean and the atrium was beautiful.
Food and Dining
We had no issues with the food. The buffet had wonderful variety\, the dinning rooms were very comfortable and the service was outstanding. We did have on meal in their extra charge steak house and it was 5 star in every regard.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a mini suite with balcony and it was just fine. I'm sure it was for water tightness but the balcony door is very heavy and took a real effort to open.
Service and Staff
We felt the staff was very helpful\, extremely polite and friendly\, and went well beyond to insure our comfort and cruise enjoyment.
The stage shows were just outstanding - entertainers were entusiastic and very hard working. The sets\, music\, lighting\, sound were all first rate. Movies in the theater or on deck or in your room were never ending and very recent. There were first run movies\, movies for kids and romantics. The on board naturalist was a real plus with his daily lectures on wild life etc. as we sailed into Alaska.
