Very unorganized and a lot of WAITING

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our first time to travel with Royal Caribbean. Our port was Galveston, TX and unfortunately the trip was delayed due to a medical emergency. We were traveling with three small children and two seniors. We were contacted earlier that day by phone and told to not arrive at the port until 7Pm. Once we arrived all we did was WAIT in line- hour after hour with three small children. Royal Caribbean made no accommodations for those of us traveling with children. We stood in line or sat on the floor for hours (three hours). By the time we were checked in and arrived in our stateroom it was 10:30 at night- the children were miserable and we were all exhausted. Our vacation was cut short, we were all very stressed, and the inconvenience was not the way we had planned our family trip. The compensation we were given was a twenty dollar voucher each which did not seem like an adequate compensation.
The following morning we awoke to have breakfast and when we tried to get back into our room our keys would not work. We were told to go up to customer service.
Once again we found our family waiting in line with many other people. We were told that all of our credit card information had been lost at check in and that we had to give our credit card information to them again or our cards would not work. On Saturday we arrived in Cozumel and tried to get off the ship- everything was very unorganized. We stood in corridors with hundreds of people waiting to get off the ship. It was uncomfortable and hot for everyone. It seemed like one inconvenience led to the next through out our entire trip- like a domino effect. We filled out complaint forms on board and were sent a letter saying they would report all of our complaints to headquarters.

Pros: The wait staff at dinner really tried to make up all the shortcomings of the cruise

Cons: Loosing 6 hours off our vacation and all waiting with three small children and two seniors

Recommends Splendour of the Seas? No.

Cozumel, Mexico
We had a great visit, but not enough time!
Don't Miss: charting a boat and going snorkling
