Review SummaryThis was our first cruise and we had a good overall experience. The staff throughout the ship was wonderful- very friendly, helpful and attentive. The quality and presentation of the food in the main dining room was comparable to that of a high-end restaurant. We were really pleased with the entertainment at the Follies Theater- all three shows we saw had great singers and dancers. CocoCay Island was a piece of paradise with its white-sand beaches and crystal-clear ocean water.
Still, there were a few things we thought could use some improvement. To begin with, the toilet in our stateroom's bathroom would not flush on and off the whole time. I called maintenance and was told that it was a central problem and that they were working on it. Apparently, they never managed to fix it completely. There was a sewer gas smell we did not appreciate at all. Secondly, except for the food in the main dining room, we were not that impressed with the quality of what was offered at the Windjammer Cafe or Sorrento's Pizza. Thirdly, we wish there were more activities for young children like our daughter who is 2 yo: there was only one 45-minute activity a day for toddlers her age and I wasn't happy with the fact that it was organized at the Viking Crown- a bar permeated with cigarette smoke. We thought that it would have been nice if there was a slide/swing set on one of the decks. Also, one of the days our daughter scraped her knee and we tried to find a doctor/nurse to clean the wound. It wasn't very comforting to find out that the "hospital" on board the ship was open only a few hours daily. What if we had a real emergency? Lastly, as far as the ports of call were concerned, as much as CocoCay was wonderful, Nassau was quite a disappointment- we would have much rather spent two days at CocoCay instead.
All this being said, we would love to go on a second cruise, possibly with Royal Caribbean again, but maybe on a different ship.
