First Time Cruise Was Busy

Sail Date: June 01, 2007

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Inside

Our first impression was great upon entering the ship and going up to the main deck as we left port. Very nice, clean, and staff friendly. As we made our way to our cabin quickly for our drill prep, we noticed the hallway (2nd floor) had a "sewer" smell and it was wet. As we turned the corner going to our inside room, the staff was vacuuming water and had large fans in the hallway. Thankfully, our cabin did not stink but the hallway continued to the entire cruise. The pool area was nice, but I was upset with the "rules of the pool" I guess you would say. One pool was for adults, one for children. Now, when we first got on, we did not know this and children were in both pools, so my daughters also jumped in. Later, a crew member came by and told children to go to the other pool that the one they were in was for adults. That's fine, but please....tell the smoochy, kissy, hug all over each other adults who were in the children's pool to remove themselves and either move to the adult pool or to their room. We had to leave the pool area. Enough said. The dining room was nice. Food was good in the Mirage, but slow both nights. We ended up not eating there again (even though we loved our waiters) because it took over 2 1/2 hours each night we did eat there. I'm thinking 1 to 1 1/2 hours is plenty. We only saw one show and it was great. The kids loved the little time we allowed them to stay in the kid program. We were very excited about getting to see the "animal towels" the staff makes for your room each night, but the kids only got 2, I believe. They were a little disappointed. They loved the experience and we had a good time.

Pros: Coco Cay

Cons: We felt like we had to rush to get all the things done we wanted.

Recommends Sovereign of the Seas (RETIRED)? Yes!
