Stay away from Royal Caribbean cruise

Sail Date: March 19, 2007

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Inside

We loaded this ship "Sovergn of the seas" by Royal Caribbean in Port canaveral on 3/19/07, the hallways were super small and smelled like rotten carpet. Our room was to be for 2 adults and 2 kids, (maybe if everyone is a size small we would of fit). The first night at dinner, our waiter and assistant waitress were very distant and we had to ask for everything even to get our table cleaned off for dessert. We were traveling with a party of 14 and we were put at seperate tables. The first night they didnt have the late night buffett going or the towel animals. Everything doesnt start until the 2nd night. The 1 pool that they had on the ship was over crowded and not having enough chairs or tables for everyone. There is not much for children to do on this ship or for adults unless you want to pay for extra activities. We have traveled on Carnival Cruiselines in the past (4) and have never had an experience like this.
The extremely worst part of the trip was not having hot water in the shower for 2 nights and not having any water for 1 night and when we did have water in our shower it was brown and smelly. Our toilets never flushed right due to not having water in them and the drains in the shower and bathroom floor backup in our room.
3 other couples with us also had this problem too, on the 2 deck rooms 2571. When we called guest services they always sent someone up but never appoligized. The room sounded (while rocking on 15 ft seas) like metal against metal so we didnt get much sleep unless we wore earplugs. I was very unhappy, and dissatified and will never travel on this ship again.

Pros: The evening show were like being in a mini-broadway show

Cons: The sanitary problems, backing up of drains, no water, brown water from showers that stunk, the same food everynight, cabin size for a child, only 1 pool with not enough chairs for everyone, Hallways smelled of throw-up

Recommends Sovereign of the Seas (RETIRED)? No.

Food and Dining
It got better over the nights but never fantastic.
Service and Staff
There were ones that were very helpful and then the ones who ignored you.
Children's Programs
My 12 year old said it was very boring and scary at times. My 6 year old felt like he was with babies.
Evening shows are great!
Cabin / Stateroom
Unless your a size 2.
Ship Quality
This is the oldest ship of RC per their employees.....I think it need to be retired!
Nassau, Bahamas
Had a nice time visiting Atlantis, Taxi drivers are super and very informative, and beach to die for. Do not do the excursion "dungeons and Pirates" a waste of time and $$$$$$
Cococay (Cruiseline's Private Island)
Didnt get to dock due to weather and the breaking of the ANCHOR! Imagine that!!!
