We were a party of seven (7), and this was to be a Christmas gift to our children and grandchildren. With a 6 and a 10 year old we were looking forward to Coco Cay, however, that was not to be. First things first though. We arrived on board the Sovereign of the Seas and were greeted with the smell of vomit in our three cabins. A call was made to Customer Relations to rectify the situation. The lobby and the hallways were shabby, the carpets dirty, and our cabin person was never around. As a professor and a lawyer it was absolutely imperative that I have internet access, but had difficulty getting it. I asked Customer Relations for help. They made a call to a tech person. He asked a question about pop-up blockers via the phone - he was busy and didn't want to come up. I tried again, and went back again to customer service. three tries later the tech was forced to show up, and low and behold I was NOY the only person with issues - the entire area had people who were unable to access the internet via their personal laptops!

The stop in Nassau was good. Coco Cay was cancelled on the way out because of strong seas so we proceeded straight to Nassau. We should have stayed their an additional day as Coco Cay was again sufferring from strong seas so we couldn't go on the way back so another day at sea on the ship. We could not understand why the shipping line would not provide another day in Nassau since clearly communications are available, and the fact that Coco Cay was unavailable would have been known long before we left Nassau. We were advised to purchase a drinks pass for Coke and Juice. That was nothing but a rip-off. Why purchase the pass when you are charged for canned Coke, and when you order Coke from room service it is $2.00 a can? Who is going to carry around a large container just to have an attendant, if you happen to be near one, fill it? It was inconvenient, impractical, and was used twice on the voyage.

We felt that their was not what we call "full disclosure" in that we would never have purchased the drinks pass is we had known the restrictions, we would not have booked the trip if we had been told of the condition of the ship and the cabins, we would not have booked the trip if we had been informed that a trip to an island (Coco Cay) could be cancelled, but would not be made up at another location. We are actually cruise passengers who lost weight on board the ship because of the poor quality and poor choices of food available. We never went back to the dining rook after the first time.

So for us a cruise will never happen again - And should we even consider a trip again it would never be on a Royal Carribean ship. Ever. We would never book any trip of any kind through the Vacation Outlet. We feel that they did not accurately and fully inform us as to how things actually were as to the ship and sailing, but rather pushed the Royal Carribean line. Ww relied on the "experts" and we regret it. So much for the Christmas present for the children.

Pros: 24 Hour Room Service

Cons: The Sovereign of the Seas

Recommends Sovereign of the Seas (RETIRED)? No.

Food and Dining
Convenience of dining was not good - the quality of food was below average, the choices of food were limited, and specialty options were ridiculous - hamburgers and pizza. Stay home and get those.
Service and Staff
staff smiled - no one went above and beyond. We had to go in search of anything we needed or wanted. The excursion counter and the customer relations counter batted my daughter back and forth between them and all she needed was a credit for all of the excursions she had purchased. Neither counter wanted to do the legwork and issue the credit - So at 2:00 in the morning it was finally resolved. Unacceptable.
Children's Programs
Ship Quality
The condition of public areas was dirty, shabby and they smelled constantly.
Cabin / Stateroom
Terrible. Claustrophobic, dirty, and no amenities.
Terrible. Bingo was it. Why take a cruise for that?
