A Great Weekend Getaway

Sail Date: December 08, 2006

What a great job Royal Caribbean did in refurbishing the Sovereign of the Seas! We were on this ship a few years ago and it looked its age. Now its like a brand new ship with all the amenities in miniature.
The crew and staff were above excellent. They are what makes cruising such an experience. They cater to your every need. You couldn't ask for more.
Food was very good and most of the diners were pleasant dinner companions.
This is a great ship for short weekend getaways. Its one of Royal Caribbean's smallest ships and cabins are miniaturized. But, for a weekend on the ocean, you really don't mind. I would definitely do it again and again.

Pros: Being on the Boat!

Cons: No lobster

Recommends Sovereign of the Seas (RETIRED)? Yes!

The ship was supposed to dock in Nassau for a day and than on to Coco Cay. Nassau was a great port as usual. We never made it to Coco Cay due to weather. From what the crew was telling us, Fall and Winter the water is usually too rough for the tender boats. Our head waiter told us that in the past 6 months, he has only made it to Coco Cay once. Royal should come up with alternate plans instead of just a day at sea.
Though I must give credit to the crew and staff, they did come up with many activities to keep you busy during the day at sea.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our cabin was spotless, decor was average and condition was almost new. If you're the least bit claustrophobic don't get an inside cabin. One of us had to sit on the bed for the other one to be able to get by. It was a cute miniature.
Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Food service and quality was excellent. Formal dinner was beautiful. Only thing is that Royal does not serve lobster on their weekend cruises as does other cruise lines.
Service and Staff
Nassau, Bahamas
You just have to really enjoy Nassau. We've been there numerous times and always enjoy the shopping and friendliness of the Bahamian people
Don't Miss: Don't miss anything from the horse drawn carriage ride to the shopping
