Sovereign 3 Day Bahamas

Sail Date: October 27, 2006

Reviewed: 10 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

This was our 4th cruise with Royal Caribbean this year. We are used to the newer, larger class ships (7 day sailings), and have always been overly impressed with the newer ships. The shows and entertainers were great, and we thought the price was a good value. We gave this sailing as a wedding gift to some first time cruisers, and had to apologize for the ship (we had raved about our past Royal Caribbean cruises). Although the ship was refit in recent past years, it appeared dated and had a lot of wear and tear. The staff was friendly, but some of them complained a lot about their wages, and didn't seem to take pride in the appearance of the ship. While walking through passenger cabins, we always noticed a strong waste odor, and the Windjammer Buffet always smelled like spoiled milk. Our cabin's shower drain always overflowed, and our toilet always seemed to require periodic repair maintenance. I guess that this could be attributed to the age of the ship's plumbing. Overall, it was still a decent value for a weekend getaway.

Pros: Shows / Entertainment

Cons: Aged Ship. Foul Odors in the cabin hallways, and at the Windjammer Buffet

Make sure to book an excursion, as this can be a dangerous port, if you venture out on your own. It was nice to have a long time to visit (the ship arrived in the early afternoon, and departed at 1 am, early the next morning).
Don't Miss: Close Dolphin Experience
Cococay (Cruiseline's Private Island)
Clean, relaxed, Natural Preserved area.
Don't Miss: Waverunners to the neighboring Berry Islands.
