Rooms on the fifth floor were so convenient and less expensive than the rooms to higher floors.

Some months prior to embarkation , enquire if you can invite family or guests aboard for lunch .

Do not miss the Grill on the pooldeck on an evening.
UpstateJan
If your room is on the bottom deck, you will have to go upstairs to get to the other side of the ship, it's a bit cut off
UpstateJan
You can embark early, since this is a small ship. Best to get on around noon, and enjoy lunch on deck, at the Grill. The staff was so happy to welcome us on, and remembered our drink preference for the entire two weeks!

Try to book shore excursions elsewhere because the ship's are expensive and poor quality.
Iw2r5med
Do not spend the money on this ship and definitely do not go if you are a "person of color"
traveldan
This is for people who want lots of personal space - we called it the Ghost ship because you can walk all over and see only a few people.
pcreedsmith
choose Viking Ocean instead

lower your expectations of luxury

Make dinner reservations on line before sailing.

Don't overpack. Much of cruise is casual dress.

Book your restaurants early but don't worry if you end up with not getting what you want...we were able to easily book on board for the number of reservations we wanted. Plan your excursions around the in port schedule. We booked an excursion that did not allow us any time in the port to explore..

Heavy seas produced a sleepless night, motion sickness, and a wasted day and a half. Nothing in the promotional material for this cruise prepared us for this and not seeing the Hubbard Glacier. Overall the weather was overcast or there was rain most days. Transparency about weather and risk needed.

Grab headphones if you go to the gym for the treadmill. The treadmills face a blank wall and do not have TVs.
