Overall pretty good by atsea23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a pretty good time overall. I don’t like this setup where I have to give more info or I can’t submit my review. If I had known this I would not have left a review.

Ship was nice but room was awful by Vanessafm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This cabin (Room 8087 on Serenade of the Seas) has an active sewage leak in 2 locations in the floor under the vanity and by the entry door. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL) left us in this room for 4 days smelling the back up of sewage that was seeping into the carpet. They put a clunky dehumidifier in our small room and said they “fixed” the leak; however, the stench of the wet carpet remained prominent. After 4 days they offered to move us 5 floors LOWER on the 3rd floor... claiming it was an “upgrade” to be in the basement with a porthole window. After we refused to be downgraded, they miraculously “found” a room on our same floor with a balcony (however, this new room was not centrally located but was in the Aft with much movement). We had to pack up our room to relocate and unpack (for the 2nd time) in the new room...Room 8087 on Serenade of the Seas is a health hazard and should not have been sold to us. Not only was this a health hazard and liability for RCCL to sell us this room for a 10-day cruise but it also delayed our ability to use the ship’s amenities since we had to meet with maintenance staff multiple times instead of relaxing on our trip. RCCL customer service is severely lacking in that they only wanted to give us a coupon/percent off for a future cruise and nothing back for the substandard experience. Buyer beware... do not expect standard American customer service from a seemingly foreign-based mindset company (RCCL) because they do not care if your experience is unsanitary and substandard. If you have any issues it is your issue and not theirs.

Ship: Serenade of the Seas

My fiance and i have just returned from our wonderful vacation upon the Serenade of the Seas cruise and I can't wait to plan my next trip. It was amazing. We didnt want to come home we wanted to stay back on the ship for another few weeks. Our experience was pure joy and amazement. We were greeted by such a friendly staff and crew that they were so warm and welcoming. The bartenders especially William were very quick, enthusiastic, and very accommodating. We will definitely be back on another RC cruise hopefully very soon. Keep up all the great work.

Good Cruise by Catella

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our second cruise on Serenade so we knew what to expect. Our service was good in both the diningroom and in our room. Food was good. This isn't a ship known for a lot of entertainment. We did enjoy the ports and all the people we talked to. Nothing like meeting others who share our love of cruising.

very enjoyable and relaxing vacation!! by postman33810

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

we took a 10 day cruise our of Ft. Lauderdale on the Serenade of the Seas. We prefer the larger ship as entertainment in non-theatre areas is difficult for seating. We loved all the ports of call except for Anitgua.

Had a great time. The crew and on board entertainment were excellent. by Kentucky502

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Had a great time. and very relaxing. Went with a couple of family members. The staff on board were great, especially our waiters at dinner. Food was excellent with a wide selection to choose from. We did not purchase the drink package but prices were reasonable. I think it was a very good value for the money.

Reconsider Serenade of Seas by igo53

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This cruise ship does not look like its been refurbished. Cruise Director was Horrible. No enthusiasm what so ever and most of the time could not understand him (heavy accent). Lack of activities and poor shows. Horrible service in Dining room, we ate most of the time in the Windjammer which has the same selection of food that is being served in Dining Room. We took this same ship when it was ported in New Orleans and we had a blast and everything was excellent. Also the gentleman discussing the excursions would go from talking about ports to mostly his travels in other areas which did not apply to this cruise. Most of the time he did not make any sense.

The ship was clean but... by Slinky2712

Sail date: /
Ship: Serenade of the Seas

The ship was clean but a bit dated, it could do with some modernisation. The entertainment and food were excellent. The staff went above and beyond as always on RC. The ports of call were beautiful and the excursions were good but very busy. Would recommend the Dolphin swim in St Kitts and go to the Boatyard in Barbados to snorkel with the turtles and above the sunken ship foc.

PS... Rita's Cantina doesn't exist anymore ... I was a little disappointed to learn that as we were looking forward to chips and salsa and margaritas.

Overall, very nice ship. I wish they would retract part of the roof in the Solarium, it gets way to hot in the beautiful area.

The ship was not the best of the of the lot but it was clean . It did not have the factor which I was looking for in my dream but for a ship of its age it was well maintained.

Love the 10 day itinerary.... by DeniseHangs

Sail date: /
Ship: Serenade of the Seas

Love the 10 day itinerary. The wait staff and room steward were fantastic. Couldn’t have asked for better. All midship balconies have a bit of a block - no wave views. Deck 7 has partial ocean view when seated - not listed as obstructed. Guest services is awful on this ship - been on her twice. They are dismissive of all issues, including those of a disabled person in front of me about the chair she rented. Was shocked. My issues were all dismissed, and I travel a lot, so I soak up most issues as vacation and don’t like wasting time in line at Guest Services so you can believe they were serious and deserved at least acknowledgement. Food was decent, shows were good. Wait staff lacking in some areas and great in others. One bartender didn’t want to be there and was always crabby.

Sail date: /
Ship: Serenade of the Seas

Our cruise in October will be the third year in a row on the Serenade. We love this ship. Nicknamed the ship of glass. In our opinion is one of the best ships in Royals fleet. Not too big. Not too small. Service and food is excellent!❤️

Overall great cruise the only downfall was being 12 days the crowd was much older and the activities were very limited. I found myself bored at times especially when we were sailing.

Having one more day in... by cdelp

Sail date: /
Ship: Serenade of the Seas

Having one more day in Boston to avoid a noreaster gives time to reflect on a great week. As for the ship we are not seasoned cruisers as our last cruise was in March on the Celebtity Equinox, and the one before that over 10 years prior on Princess. Never the less overall impression very favorable with a few exceptions. Inside cabin very dark and quiet and really thought it was a good value as we paid 440 per person. Patu kept an excellent room. The whole ship is very clean, though not new. The outside pool area needs a refresh as rust never sleeps. Overall clean and tidy. Food was hit and miss. Better in the dinning room then the buffet. They mislabled several items stating they had ingrediants they simply did not have. Imitation crab meet instead of scollops in the seafood linquini, morel sauce that wasn't. The pasta was fresh made and the sauces well done. Breakfast was best I think. The desert section was very thin and had a sloppy presentation. The ice cream tasted like ice milk, at least the choclate did. And there were few chocolats of any kind. The Equinox was a whole different experience. The bars were varied and very good. Prices a bit high, as one would expect. Did not get the drink package but feel at 47 it is worth it. The coffee was very good. The Pub was loud and rowdy for the Red Sox game, and obnoxious Boston fan x 3 hurt the experience with all the pounding on the bar and screaming, the rest of the crowd was fine and these men clearly in their 30"s should gave been cut off. Still overall great drink spaces. The pool areas were only ok. Not near enough hot tubs or actuall pool space and no out door grilling which really stood out in the Equinox. I thought other then three rare examples the people on the cruise were kind and well mannered. It is an elderly crowd however and much older then on the Equinox. New Englanders often dress down during vacation and that was certainly present and in contrast with the smart casual appearence of the Equinox crowd. To each their own, just an observation. Also, I count myself in this group, there are alot of heavy people on this cruise. Again, I have no room to talk as I am 3 xx myself. It is just the amount of us that is striking! Hopefully I will do something about it myself. The galley tour brunch was a bargain as unlimitted bubbly was part of price! To sum it up go for Burmuda, which was just lovely, and you will not be disappointed. If you are a foodie pay extra for specialty dinning. If you want lively and fun this may not be your first choice. A solid value in the B to sometimes B plus range. Will try Norwegan next time.

First vacation and cruise for an introvert by BruceAlfred

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Day one, living in New England I didn't have to fly to get to the boat, that was a big bonus for me. over all a smooth start. I didn't really know what to expect from a cruise so I was still a bit lost. I am not a drinker, shopper, or a gambler, and I was traveling alone, so my obvious options were a bit limited. There were shows every night and live music throughout the boat, and of course the food. There were a couple of events that seemed to be cancelled as when I arrived at the place and time listed there was no one there, one of these events would have been for first time cruisers. Day two was nice we were at sea and I love the ocean, I saw some passengers were happy they took some stuff with them to help with motion sickness, but I was doing well. Having checked the list of things available to do I did what I could to try to experience what was around, but still a bit lost, also didn't meet anyone yet, I talked to some of the other guests but everyone was already in there own groups. Still a positive experience. Day three, I was very disappointed, I had a couple of plans but getting off the boat alone was not a pleasant experience, I re-boarded the ship and went to my stateroom to recover for a while away from the crowds. I checked out the shore excursions desk and it was closed until that night. That night I book an excursion as meeting people was not very easy. I went to bed early so I wouldn't miss the excursion for the following morning. Day four, I visited the crystal caves, BAMZ, the lighthouse, and a fort, fun day on the island. so far no sun on this vacation and it rained every port day but positive again Day five, stayed on boat as I haven't met anyone yet and don't want to miss getting back on the boat. Tried to find on ship events again as my luck finding events not cancelled has not been easy so far. I attended a couple of trivia events. Day six, On the sea again, nice sea day, but word that we may lose the second sea day as the storm might make sailing difficult, made the best of the day. Day seven ported in Boston. Being in Boston we all had to get out passports checked, it was super easy but had to get in a long line. It went quick and smooth. Being in Boston I could turn my phone back on and check my email. Day eight, end of cruise, went super smooth, especially since our passports were already checked. Overall the shows and other live entertainment was nice, and they fed me well, my room was kept clean and I could not ask for a better staff and crew. Maybe next time If I cruise again I will have a better idea of what to expect.
