Review SummaryThis was our second cruise and our second cruise on Princess. The Sapphire is a beautiful ship, well-laid out and immaculately maintained. The crew was friendly and efficient. We did not meet one member of the staff that was anything but friendly. We booked a full suite (PH) mid-ship on the Caribe deck and the only comment I have, other thatn WOW! is one needs to be aware that you are directly over the stabalizers and as such there is a low vibration that you can feel. It didn't bother us, other than we wondered what was causing it. The cabin was beautiful with a huge balcony where we spent much of our time. Our cabin steward was very efficient and usually had our room made up as soon as we left.
We did find the food to be of slighly less quality than our cruise two years ago on the Golden Princess. That being said, it was sitll very, very good and we were never hungry. We spent much of our time in the wake pool area at the aft of the ship. It was adults only and for the most part that was observed. It was never crowded and nice and quiet, unlike the activity around the main pools.
Although we did not attend the shows our tablemates said the comedian and magician were very good. They did comment that the production show was the same one they had seen on previous Princess cruises and they were disappointed in that.
I did sign my husband up for the Utlimate Ship Tour and he was selected. It was a highlight of the cruise for him and he recommends that anyone should try for it. It does require a great deal of walking and the ability to climb up and down narrow staircases. You see many of the behind the scenes areas, including the bridge.
Our only shore excursion was to swim with the dolphins in Puerto Vallarta and that was a truly amazing experience and one I would highly recommend. It is cheaper to book it privately, but we cut it pretty close getting back to the ship so I am glad we booked through Princess. I noticed that the dolphin swim in Cabo San Lucas is only a very short walk from the tender debarkation point - for what that is worth.
All in all - a wonderful cruise.
