Beautiful scenery, a mediocre cruise

Sail Date: July 01, 2007

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Inside

There are plenty of onboard activities to keep yourself busy but the entire staff, except for some waiters/waitresses in the buffet, were not very friendly. It seemed like you were bothering them when you asked for something. In any case, you the Alaskan coastline is beautiful and not to be missed. I, however, would recommend another cruise line.

Pros: Scenery

Cons: Staff was not friendly, buffet food is so-so, had to pay for juices/ice cream

Recommends Sapphire Princess? No.

Service and Staff
Majority of the staff, especially, wait-staff at dining rooms, were not friendly. For example, the shower curtain in our stateroom stank up the whole room. I asked the steward to see if he could replace it. Obviously, it was not replaced. Another example is that we indicated that we were celebrating our anniversary when we registered, however, we had to ask the steward if we were getting balloons b/c he apparently forgot...
Ship Quality
Big ship. Lots of places to explore.
Food and Dining
Food at the buffet was okay at best. The dining room offered better food. Ice cream/juices were extra except juices were served during breakfast. The snack bars (the trident grill and pizza parlor) closed at 6pm.
Cabin / Stateroom
Bigger then Royal Carribean staterooms.
Entertainment
I remembering going on a Royal Carribean cruise where it seemed like there was a DJ or band playing music daily at the outdoor pool. On this cruise it happened only once when we left Vancouver. By the way, we had great weather throughout, only rained once the entire cruise.
Children's Programs
More like daycare but it's better than nothing. My son had fun!
